The lyophilized aqueous extract of Ajuga iva (Ai) is able to reduce oxidative stress, which may prevent lipid peroxidation in hypercholesterolemic rats. Iridoids (I) were isolated from Ai. We hypothesized that the antioxidant defense status in red blood cells (RBC) and tissues in rats fed a cholesterol-rich diet and treated with Ai may be correlated to these compounds. Male Wistar rats (n = 32) weighing 120 +/- 5 g were fed a diet containing 1% cholesterol for 15 days. The effects of substance P and eledoisin on spontaneous and electrically-evoked release of [3H]acetylcholine, and on smooth muscle were studied in the guineapig myenteric plexus-longitudinal muscle preparation preloaded with [3H]choline. Substance P and eledoisin caused transient increases in spontaneous release of [3H]acetylcholine and in longitudinal muscle tone. Both tachykinins were equipotent in contracting the muscle, but eledoisin was more potent than substance P in eliciting [3H]acetylcholine release. Rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS) may resemble other non-myogenic sarcomas and malignant rhabdoid tumor (MRT). Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) often harbors a typical translocation, but embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) lacks any specific rearrangement. Histopathology is not always sufficient for an unequivocal diagnosis, necessitating ancillary studies, including immunohistochemistry (IHC). Fibrin-chitosan composite substrate for in vitro culture of chondrocytes

The aim of this study was to develop a biocompatible monolayer substrate based on fibrin and chitosan for in vitro culture of chondrocytes. Fibrin-chitosan composite substrates combined the proved cell adhesion properties of fibrin with the hydrophilicity and poor adhesion capacity of chitosan. Chitosan microspheres were produced by coacervation method, agglomerated within a fibrin network and subsequently crosslinked with genipin. One of the most important issues in the apparel development process is to define a sizing system that provides a good fit to the majority of the population. A sizing system classifies a specific population into homogeneous subgroups based on some key body dimensions. Standard sizing systems range linearly from very small to very large. Even for parasitoids with a wide host range, not all host species are equally suitable, and host qualityoften depends on the plant the host feeds on. We compared oviposition choice and offspring perfor-mance of a generalist pupal parasitoid,Pteromalus apum(Retzius) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae), ontwo congeneric hosts reared on two plant species under field and laboratory conditions. The plantscontain defensive iridoid glycosides that are sequestered by the hosts.
