Sport participation and loneliness in adolescents: the mediating role of perceived social competence
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: Current Psychology. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s12144-013-9174-5 Young people perceive loneliness as a distressing emotional experience associated with sadness and boredom. Also, feelings of loneliness may be associated with psychosocial and emotional problems during adolescence. The aim of this study was to investigate whether perceived social competence mediated the cross-sectional relationship between sport participation and loneliness in young people when controlling for age, sex, shyness, and non-organized physical activity. This cross-sectional study consisted of 2,055 pupils (995 boys and 1,060 girls…
“La solitude de l'auteur” en tant que condition sine qua non de l'acte créateur chez Marguerite Duras
2019
Loneliness seems to be a leitmotif of Marguerite Duras’s literary oeuvre. It is interpreted by the writer primarily as a personal experience, a specific form of freedom, the dominant expression of which is silence expressing pain, loss, inability to communicate with other people, unfulfilled love. Loneliness is also seen as a sine qua non condition that allows one to focus on oneself, to close oneself in one’s own world. This is an indispensable element of the author’s poetics, the one having an ontological character, referring to “the way of thinking, reasoning”. Duras treats loneliness as a typical condition of every true writer, inscribed in his or her condition, and argues that one can …
Computationally Efficient Innovative Techniques for the Design-Oriented Simulation of Free-Running and Driven Microwave Oscillators
2014
Analysis techniques for injection-locked oscillators/amplifiers (ILO) can be broadly divided into two classes. To the first class belong methods with a strong and rigorous theoretical basis, that can be applied to rather general circuits/systems but which are very cumbersome and/or time-consuming to apply. To the second class belong methods which are very simple and fast to apply, but either lack of validity/accuracy or are applicable only to very simple or particular cases. In this thesis, a novel method is proposed which aims at combining the rigorousness and broad applicability characterizing the first class of analysis techniques above cited with the simplicity and computational efficie…

Variants in ZFHX3 are associated with atrial fibrillation in individuals of European ancestry
2009
We conducted meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for atrial fibrillation (AF) in participants from five community-based cohorts. Meta-analyses of 896 prevalent (15,768 referents) and 2,517 incident (21,337 referents) AF cases identified a novel locus for AF (ZFHX3, rs2106261, risk ratio [RR]=1.19; P=2.3×10−7), an association that was replicated in the German AF Network (odds ratio=1.44; P=1.6×10−11). Combining the discovery and replication results, rs2106261 was significantly associated with AF (RR=1.25; P=1.8×10−15).
Strength of J(pi)=1(+) Gamow-Teller and isovector spin monopole transitions in double-beta-decay triplets
2014
In this work we study systematically the energetics and intensity distributions of Gamow-Teller (GT ± )and isovector spin monopole (IVSM ± ) transitions from the ground states of the pairs ( 76 Ge, 76 Se), ( 82 Se, 82 Kr), ( 100 Mo, 100 Ru), ( 116 Cd, 116 Sn), ( 128 Te, 128 Xe), ( 130 Te, 130 Xe), and ( 136 Xe, 136 Ba), of double-beta-decay initial and final nuclei, to the J π = 1 + excited states of the intermediate odd-odd nuclei 76 As, 82 Br, 100 Tc, 116 In, 128 , 130 I, and 136 Cs. We use a proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) theory framework with the Bonn-A two-body interaction in large no-core single-particle valence bases. Our studies indicate that the GT −…
Osservazioni su Gai 2.14 e le res incorporales
2012
Through a critical review of some issues concerning the content of Gai 2.14 and the systematic and conceptual meaning of the res incorporales in the Gaius’ Institutes, the author defends the integration ‘ea quae iure consistunt’ (§§ 2-3) – which expresses a subjective perspective of ius (§ 3) – with new topics; it is particularly stressed that the two terms of the classification ‘res corporales / res incorporales’ – which is not possible to determine if it has been adopted first by Gaius (§ 4) – are considered by the jurist as elements of the patrimonium, more specifically from the point of view of the ways in which they enter into the patrimonium or come out from it, in accordance with a g…
Sherlock-fanien käsityksiä faniudesta, fandomista ja fanikielestä
2016
Näin ollen nimenomaan Sherlock-faniutta on kiinnostavaa tutkia yleisen fani-ilmiön sijaan. Lähestyn tutkimusaihettani aineistolähtöisen sisällönanalyysin kaut…
