Relaxation of Quasilinear Elliptic SystemsviaA-quasiconvex Envelopes

2002

We consider the weak closure WZof the set Z of all feasible pairs (solution, flow) of the family of potential elliptic systems div s0 s=1 s(x)F 0 s(ru(x )+ g(x)) f(x) =0i n; u =( u1;:::;um)2 H 1 0 (; R m ) ; =( 1;:::;s 0 )2 S; where R n is a bounded Lipschitz domain, Fs are strictly convex smooth functions with quadratic growth and S =f measurable j s(x )=0o r 1 ;s =1 ;:::;s0 ;1(x )+ +s0 (x )=1 g .W e show that WZis the zero level set for an integral functional with the integrand QF being the A-quasiconvex envelope for a certain functionF and the operator A = (curl,div) m . If the functions Fs are isotropic, then on the characteristic cone (dened by the operator A) QF coincides with the A-p…

Quadrature Formula Based on Interpolating Polynomials: Algorithmic and Computational Aspects

2007

The aim of this article is to obtain a quadrature formula for functions in several variables and to analyze the algorithmic and computational aspects of this formula. The known information about the integrand is {λi(f)}i=1n, where λi are linearly independent linear functionals. We find a form of the coefficients of the quadrature formula which can be easy used in numerical calculations. The main algorithm we use in order to obtain the coefficients and the remainder of the quadrature formula is based on the Gauss elimination by segments method. We obtain an expression for the exactness degree of the quadrature formula. Finally, we analyze some computational aspects of the algorithm in the pa…

Cyclic AMP-induced Chromatin Changes Support the NFATc-mediated Recruitment of GATA-3 to the Interleukin 5 Promoter

2008

Elevated intracellular cyclic AMP levels, which suppress the proliferation of naive T cells and type 1 T helper (Th1) cells are a property of T helper 2 (Th2) cells and regulatory T cells. While cyclic AMP signals interfere with the IL-2 promoter induction, they support the induction of Th2-type genes, in particular of il-5 gene. We show here that cyclic AMP signals support the generation of three inducible DNase I hypersensitive chromatin sites over the il-5 locus, including its promoter region. In addition, cyclic AMP signals enhance histone H3 acetylation at the IL-5 promoter and the concerted binding of GATA-3 and NFATc to the promoter. This is facilitated by direct protein-protein inte…

Retrained Classification of Tyrosinase Inhibitors and “In Silico” Potency Estimation by Using Atom-Type Linear Indices

2012

In this paper, the authors present an effort to increase the applicability domain (AD) by means of retraining models using a database of 701 great dissimilar molecules presenting anti-tyrosinase activity and 728 drugs with other uses. Atom-based linear indices and best subset linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were used to develop individual classification models. Eighteen individual classification-based QSAR models for the tyrosinase inhibitory activity were obtained with global accuracy varying from 88.15-91.60% in the training set and values of Matthews correlation coefficients (C) varying from 0.76-0.82. The external validation set shows globally classifications above 85.99% and 0.72 fo…

Cosmic implications of a low-scale solution to the axion domain wall problem

2019

The post-inflationary breaking of Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry can lead to the cosmic domain wall catastrophe. In this Letter we show how to avoid domain walls implementing the Instanton Interference Effect (IIE) with a new interaction which itself breaks PQ symmetry and confines at an energy scale smaller than $\Lambda_{QCD}$. We give a general description of the mechanism and consider its cosmological implications and constraints within a minimal model. Contrary to other mechanisms we do not require an inverse phase transition neither fine-tuned bias terms. Incidentally, the mechanism leads to the introduction of new self-interacting dark matter candidates and the possibility of producing g…

Perturbative chiral violations for domain-wall QCD with improved gauge actions

2006

We investigate, in the framework of perturbation theory at finite $N_s$, the effectiveness of improved gauge actions in suppressing the chiral violations of domain-wall fermions. Our calculations show substantial reductions of the residual mass when it is compared at the same value of the gauge coupling, the largest suppression being obtained when the DBW2 action is used. Similar effects can also be observed for a power-divergent mixing coefficient which is chirally suppressed. No significant reduction instead can be seen in the case of the difference between the vector and axial-vector renormalization constants when improved gauge actions are used in place of the plaquette action. We also …

The present status of the EPS nuclear PDFs

2010

The recent global analyses of the nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) lend support to the validity of the factorization theorem of QCD in high-energy processes involving bound nucleons. With a special attention on our latest global analysis EPS09, we review the recent developements in the domain of nuclear PDFs.

Fiber Interferometers for Time-domain Quantum Optics

2021

A novel method for stabilizing fiber interferometers based on frequency- and polarization-multiplexing enables unambiguous phase retrieval, long-term stability, and phase-independent performance. These capabilities allow for precise manipulation of time-bin quantum states in a low-complexity setup.

Kl3form factor withNf= 2 +1 dynamical domain wall fermions

2008

We present the latest results from the UKQCD/RBC collaborations for the Kl3 form factor from simulations with 2 + 1 flavours of dynamical domain wall quarks. Simulations are performed on lattices with two different volumes and four values of the light quark mass, allowing for an extrapolation to the chiral limit. The analysis includes a thorough investigation into the sources of systematic error in our fits. After interpolating to zero momentum transfer, we obtain f+(0) = 0.964(5) (or ?f = -0.013(5)) which, when combined with the latest experimental results for Kl3 decays, leads to |Vus| = 0.2249(14).
