L'habitat et la nécropole celtes de Cagny Carrefour Philippe

2015

The site of Cagny on the "Plaine de Caen" was excavated from February to July 2008 and was the first site in Lower Normandy to reap the benefits of large sacle mechanical earth moving, the entire site being revealed over 13.6 acres. Beyond the two enclosures identified during a prior archaeological evaluation, this strategy, prescribed by the Ministry of Culture and Communication's archeological service in Lower-Normandy, resulted in the detection of unexpected remains and occupations. Indeed, we were able to study a settlement dating back to the Middle Neolithic II and a large necropolis with monuments dating to the Early to Middle Bronze Ages. For the Iron Age, features revealing domestic…

Inter-area oscillations in the 500-kV Vietnamese power system

2019

The paper presents the study of the 500-kV Vietnamese power system. The oscillatory response of the system is analyzed both with a modal analysis and a time domain analysis. The 500-kV system of Vietnam is modeled in details, including all the power plants with the corresponding regulators. The model is developed in collaboration with the Institute of Energy Science IES-VAST of Vietnam and it is validated with the data provided by the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) of Vietnam. The simulation results reveal a clear identification of potential inter-area oscillations between North and South of the Country. A worsening of the observed phenomenon should be considered as possible, especial…

Graphic hyperboles and critical dystopia in Miguel Brieva's drawings

2020

Solving a model for the evolution of smoking habit in Spain with homotopy analysis method

2013

We obtain an approximated analytical solution for a dynamic model for the prevalence of the smoking habit in a constant population but with equal and different from zero birth and death rates. This model has been successfully used to explain the evolution of the smoking habit in Spain. By means of the Homotopy Analysis Method, we obtain an analytic expression in powers of time t which reproduces the correct solution for a certain range of time. To enlarge the domain of convergence we have applied the so-called optimal convergence-control parameter technique and the homotopy-Padé technique. We present and discuss graphical results for our solutions. ©

On the computational aspects of a symmetric multidomain BEM for elastoplastic analysis

2012

The symmetric boundary element method (SBEM) is applied to the elasto-plastic analysis of bodies subdivided into substructures. This methodology is based on the use of: a multidomain SBEMapproach, for the evaluation of the elastic predictor; a return mapping algorithm based on the extremal paths theory, for the evaluation of inelastic quantities characterizing the plastic behaviour of each substructure; and a transformation of the domain inelastic integrals of each substructure into corresponding boundary integrals. The elastic analysis is performed by using the SBEM displacement approach, which has the advantage of creating system equations that only consist of nodal kinematical unknowns a…

Active macro-zone approach for incremental elastoplastic-contact analysis

2013

The symmetric boundary element method, based on the Galerkin hypotheses, has found an application in the nonlinear analysis of plasticity and in contact-detachment problems, but both dealt with separately. In this paper, we want to treat these complex phenomena together as a linear complementarity problem. A mixed variable multidomain approach is utilized in which the substructures are distinguished into macroelements, where elastic behavior is assumed, and bem-elements, where it is possible that plastic strains may occur. Elasticity equations are written for all the substructures, and regularity conditions in weighted (weak) form on the boundary sides and in the nodes (strong) between cont…

Causal and Non-Causal Frequency Domain Assessment of Spontaneous Baroreflex Sensitivity after Myocardial Infarction

2020

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is thought to alter the baroreflex control of arterial pressure. We tested this hypothesis investigating the changes of the cardiovascular response after AMI in comparison with young and old healthy controls studied at rest and during head-up tilt, using causal and non-causal frequency domain measures of the baroreflex sensitivity. Our results indicate: (i) the importance of using a causal approach that takes into account not only feedback but also feedforward effects in the study of interactions between the heart period and the arterial pressure; (ii) the compromised capacity of baroreceptors to control SAP fluctuations in post-AMI patients, both at rest a…

Multipactor radiation analysis within a waveguide region based on a frequency-domain representation of the dynamics of charged particles

2009

[EN] A technique for the accurate computation of the electromagnetic fields radiated by a charged particle moving within a parallel-plate waveguide is presented. Based on a transformation of the time-varying current density of the particle into a time-harmonic current density, this technique allows the evaluation of the radiated electromagnetic fields both in the frequency and time domains, as well as in the near- and far-field regions. For this purpose, several accelerated versions of the parallel-plate Green's function in the frequency domain have been considered. The theory has been successfully applied to the multipactor discharge occurring within a two metal-plates region. The proposed…

Quadratic least-squares formulation for a local active noise control with stochastic domain and noise source

2012

A local active noise control method that uses stochastic numerical acoustical modeling is introduced. The frequency domain acoustical simulations are performed by a sequence solutions to Helmholtz equations approximated by FEM. The proposed ANC method maps microphone measurements linearly to the output signals of antinoise actuators. The matrix defining the linear mapping is optimized for each frequency to minimize expected value of the noise. The paper concentrates on defining the quadratic least-squares optimization problem for the minimization of the sound pressure field in the silet region. The formulation leads to a robust and accurate noise control in stochastic domains that has a sto…
