Hopes and Limits of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells (ADSCs) and Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) in Wound Healing

2020

Adipose tissue derived stem cells (ADSCs) are mesenchymal stem cells identified within subcutaneous tissue at the base of the hair follicle (dermal papilla cells), in the dermal sheets (dermal sheet cells), in interfollicular dermis, and in the hypodermis tissue. These cells are expected to play a major role in regulating skin regeneration and aging-associated morphologic disgraces and structural deficits. ADSCs are known to proliferate and differentiate into skin cells to repair damaged or dead cells, but also act by an autocrine and paracrine pathway to activate cell regeneration and the healing process. During wound healing, ADSCs have a great ability in migration to be recruited rapidly…

Radioaktīvo un smago metālu antidota jauna analoga izstrāde

2021

2018

Teams are a very common way to organize work within a variety of fields. The role of competent communication in high-quality and successful teamwork is emphasized in both research and in working life discourse. However, research on communication competence in working life teams is scarce. Extant research lies heavily in the study of communication situations in short-term groups. The reality of working life teams differs from such groups. Teams work on varied, overlapping tasks, often over long periods of time. Moreover, extant research primarily has focused on competence as an individual quality. The objective of this study is to describe and understand the sharedness of communication compe…

Physical Weaponization of a Smartphone by a Third Party

2022

In the literature and media, the treatment of the dangers and exposures posed by smartphones has generally focused on information security or privacy concerns. There have also been reports of fires, explosions, electric shocks, or loss of phone functionality due to faulty design or manufacture. This article provides an overview of acute physical and physiological dangers of smartphones that could be induced or triggered by a third party. It proposes a categorical discussion framework to describe and define the dangers in terms of attack vectors, effects on the smartphone, harms, and potential culprits/instigators. Counterfeit smartphones are themselves a significant potential threat in this…

Teacher–student relationship and students’ social competence in relation to the quality of educational dialogue

2022

Teacher–student relationship and students’ social competence were investigated in relation to the quality of educational dialogue. The data consisted of 151 video-recorded Grade 2 lessons. The teachers (N = 50) also rated their students’ (N = 664) social competence and the teacher–student relationship. In terms of teacher–student relationships, closeness associated positively while conflict associated negatively with high quality dialogue. Regarding students’ social competence, cooperation skills and empathy linked positively while disruptiveness linked negatively with high quality dialogue. The findings provide new knowledge on how different student-related factors may support or prevent t…

Social-Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Emotion Perception in Daily Life and in a Formal Assessm…

2022

AbstractChildren with neurodevelopmental disorders often have social-emotional and behavioural difficulties. The present study explored these difficulties in children (n = 50, aged 6–10 years) with autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and developmental language disorder. Parents, teachers and therapists evaluated children’s social-emotional and behavioural difficulties through a self-devised questionnaire and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Additionally, the children, along with their typically developing age peers (n = 106), completed six emotion discrimination tasks. Analysis revealed some impaired emotion discrimination skills that were predict…

The Role of Social Media Influencers in Public Health Communication: Case COVID-19 Pandemic

2022

During public health crises, public organizations face a variety of strategic communication challenges, and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 is an extreme example. In Finland, the Prime Minister’s Office initiated a communication campaign that utilized social media influencers to communicate timely instructions regarding the pandemic. However, it is uncertain how social media influencers adapt to briefings of public organizations given that they typically work with brands that align with their own interests and expertise, which rarely is epidemiology. We use the two-step flow of communication model and social influence theory to analyze research data that consisted of 96 Instag…
