Synthesis, Structure, and Reactivity of (Dihydrogen)(hydrido)iron(II) Complexes Bearing Chiral Diphosphanes

2015

The heterolytic cleavage of molecular hydrogen by [Fe(H2O)6][BF4]2 and the chiral phosphane (+)-1,2-bis[(2R,5R)-2,5-dimethylphospholano]benzene [(R,R)-Me-DuPhos] or its enantiomer [(S,S)-Me-DuPhos] yields the (dihydrogen)(hydrido)iron complexes [FeH(2-H2){(R,R)-Me-DuPhos}2]BF4 ([R,R-1]BF4) and [FeH(2-H2){(S,S)-Me-DuPhos}2]BF4 ([S,S-1]BF4), respectively. These complexes are fluxional in solution at room temperature, and the trans isomers are observed at 200 K. The ()-cis-[R,R-1]BF4 complex was identified crystallographically as the only stereoisomer at room temperature. The energetic and structural differences between the cis ( and ) and trans isomers were analyzed from a computational (DFT)…

Synthesis of 2H-Imidazo[2',1':2,3] [1,3]thiazolo[4,5-e]isoindol-8-yl-phenylureas with promising therapeutic features for the treatment of acute myelo…

2022

Despite progressive advances in understanding the molecular biology of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the conventional therapeutic approach has not changed substantially, and the outcome for most patients is poor. Thus, continuous efforts on the discovery of new compounds with improved features are required. Following a multistep sequence, we have identified a new tetracyclic ring system with strong antiproliferative activity towards several haematological cell lines. The new compounds possess structural properties typical of inactive-state-binding kinase inhibitors and are structurally related to quizartinib which is known as type-II tyrosine kinase inhibitor. In particular, the high activi…

Giussani's insistence on the critical scope of experience led me to Capograssi's philosophy. He repeatedly alludes to an order of p…

Gene amplification in fibroblasts from ataxia telangiectasia (AT) patients and in X-ray hypersensitive AT-like Chinese hamster mutants.

2001

In search of functions involved in the regulation of gene amplification, and given the relevance of chromosome breakage in initiating the process, we analyzed the gene amplification ability of cells hypersensitive to inducers of DNA double-strand breaks and defective in cell cycle control: two human fibroblast strains derived from patients affected by ataxia telangiectasia (AT) and two hamster mutant cell lines belonging to complementation group XRCC8 of the rodent X-ray-sensitive mutants. These mutants are considered hamster models of AT cells. To measure gene amplification, the frequency and the rate of occurrence of N-(phosphonacetyl)-L-aspartate resistant cells were determined. In both …

A modified guanosine phosphoramidite for click functionalization of RNA on the sugar edge

2012

A propargyl containing guanosine phosphoramidite was synthesized and incorporated into siRNA, enabling click-ligation with an azido fluorophore onto the nucleobase sugar edge. Duplex stability was not affected by labeling at this new site, which allowed deconvolution of the effects of label, structure and attachment site on RNAi activity.

Phylogenetic relationships among Flavescence doree strains and related phytoplasmas determined by heteroduplex mobility assay and sequence of ribosom…

2003

Heteroduplex mobility assay (HMA) and DNA sequencing were performed on Flavescence doree (FD) phytoplasma strains and related phytoplasmas belonging to the elm yellows group. Part of the ribosomal RNA gene operon and a nonribosomal DNA region were utilized for phylogenetic analyses. Two FD strains, FD92 and FD-D, detected in France and Italy, respectively, were identical in both DNA fragments, confirming previous results. Other FD strains were all very similar and most closely resembled ALY, an Italian alder phytoplasma. Phytoplasmas associated with German Palatinate grapevine yellows were shown to form a distinct subcluster, also different from the elm yellows phytoplasma subcluster. Strai…

Quantum Search with Multiple Walk Steps per Oracle Query

2015

We identify a key difference between quantum search by discrete- and continuous-time quantum walks: a discrete-time walk typically performs one walk step per oracle query, whereas a continuous-time walk can effectively perform multiple walk steps per query while only counting query time. As a result, we show that continuous-time quantum walks can outperform their discrete-time counterparts, even though both achieve quadratic speedups over their corresponding classical random walks. To provide greater equity, we allow the discrete-time quantum walk to also take multiple walk steps per oracle query while only counting queries. Then it matches the continuous-time algorithm's runtime, but such …

Breaking adiabatic quantum control with deep learning

2020

In the era of digital quantum computing, optimal digitized pulses are requisite for efficient quantum control. This goal is translated into dynamic programming, in which a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) agent is gifted. As a reference, shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) provide analytical approaches to adiabatic speed up by pulse control. Here, we select single-component control of qubits, resembling the ubiquitous two-level Landau-Zener problem for gate operation. We aim at obtaining fast and robust digital pulses by combining STA and DRL algorithm. In particular, we find that DRL leads to robust digital quantum control with operation time bounded by quantum speed limits dictated by STA. I…

Fourier-Accelerated Polymer Dynamics

1994

Fourier acceleration methods are applied to simulations of two-dimensional isolated ring polymers of up to N = 64 monomers. Three simulation schemes are compared: (i) a simple Langevin simulation with local updating, (ii) a Langevin algorithm with Fourier acceleration, and (iii) a Fourier accelerated Langevin algorithm combined with Metropolis acceptance of the moves (Force Biased Monte Carlo). In contrast to (i) and (ii), method (iii) is not hampered by systematic discretization errors, which, in case (ii), seem to grow systematically with chain length N. The results on the correlation time 4 are not very accurate, however, the data are in rough agreement with τ s N z with z= 2.5 (Rouse mo…

Generalized Langevin dynamics: construction and numerical integration of non-Markovian particle-based models.

2018

We propose a generalized Langevin dynamics (GLD) technique to construct non-Markovian particle-based coarse-grained models from fine-grained reference simulations and to efficiently integrate them. The proposed GLD model has the form of a discretized generalized Langevin equation with distance-dependent two-particle contributions to the self- and pair-memory kernels. The memory kernels are iteratively reconstructed from the dynamical correlation functions of an underlying fine-grained system. We develop a simulation algorithm for this class of non-Markovian models that scales linearly with the number of coarse-grained particles. Our GLD method is suitable for coarse-grained studies of syste…
