Analysis of Offshore Knuckle Boom Crane - Part Two: Motion Control
2013
In this paper design of electro-hydraulic motion control systems for offshore knuckle boom cranes is discussed. The influence of the control valve bandwidth along with the ramp time for the control signal are investigated both analytically with simplified system models and numerically with an experimentally verified crane model. The results of both types of investigations are related to general design rules for selection of control valves and ramp times and the relevance of these design rules is discussed. Generally, they are useful but may be too conservative for offshore knuckle boom cranes. However, as demonstrated in the paper, the only proper way to determine this is to evaluate the mo…
Bewältigungsverhalten und ärztliche Informationsvermittlung - eine Studie an Müttern, die ein Kind mit einer Lippen-Kiefer-Gaumen-Spalte geboren haben
1990
To be delivered of a child with cleft lip and palate is an extreme psychic stress factor for the mother. In coping with this, she is left to the support of the caring medical staff. Therefore, the aim of the present study was 1. to ascertain, to what extent mothers of children with cleft lip and palate are given information on the malformation, and receive emotional support by the medical staff; and 2. to determine the effect such experiences have on their ability to cope. For this purpose we developed a special questionnaire, which was completed by 154 mothers of such children. Retrospectively, a relevant part of them criticised not only the communication and the contents of information, b…
Corruption and entrepreneurship: A bibliometric analysis
2019
The impact of corruption on entrepreneurial dynamics became an attractive topic for scholars after the appearance of public scandals that led to the delegitimization of many governments in the last 40 years. The research that explored the relationship between corruption and entrepreneurship has produced controversial results. It appears that the interaction of these two constructs is influenced by contextual factors both at an individual and national level of analysis. By using a bibliometric methodology and a fractional counting method to analyse the scientific literature on corruption and entrepreneurship, this paper identifies and analyses 180 articles recorded in the Scopus database. It…
Diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging at 1.5 Tesla in paediatric patients with Crohn's disease
2015
Aim of our study was to investigate role of ADC values at b=0, 500, 800, and at multi-b in the evaluation of PCD
Post memory and cinematic affect in The Midwife
2017
The Second World War has proved a rich source of inspiration for fiction films worldwide. The Finnish fiction film The Midwife (Kätilö, Antti J. Jokinen, 2015) is aimed at an international audience with a story that takes place in the context of the Lapland War in Finland in 1944. The film tells of a romantic relationship between a local woman and a member of the German army, in a highly affective manner. This article argues that the film downplays elements that might have interested the national, or local, audience, and that it privileges affect over knowledge. To bring out the film’s transnational character, the article begins by analysing it in the context of national, or local, and glob…
COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF DATA PREPROCESSING SOFTWARE TOOLS TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY AND ACCURACY IN DIFFUSION KURTOSIS IMAGING
2016
Introduction: Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most commonly used technique to extract microstructural features from a set of diffusionweighted images. In addition to the metrics obtained with DTI, diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) can provide non-Gaussian diffusion measures by means of the kurtosis tensor. DKI has shown to be more sensitive to tissue microstructural changes in both normal and pathological neural tissue. In a clinical setting, however, these benefits are often nullified by numerous acquisition artifacts. The aim of this study was compare two preprocessing software for DTI apply to DKI. Also, the major preprocessing, processing and post-processing procedures applied to D…

Brain Core Temperature of Patients Before and After Orthotopic Liver Transplantation Assessed by DWI-Thermometry
2019
Purpose The brain produces heat as a result of cerebral metabolism, and the heat is removed mainly through circulation of the intracranial blood vessels and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The aim of this study was to assess the brain core temperature of adult patients with end stage liver disease before and after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) using a noninvasive temperature measurement technique based on the diffusion coefficient of the cerebrospinal fluid. Materials and Methods This retrospective study used the data collected from January, 2014 to January, 2017. The study group comprised 19 patients (16 men, 3 women, mean age 57.9 ± 7.4 years) with a MELD score 23.7 who underwent magn…
Can perfusion sensitized MR diffusion weighted imaging discriminate between benign and malignant nodes for patients with head and neck squamous cell …
2012
Objective: To investigate fast (perfusion sensitized) and slow (true diffusion sensitized) apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements as discriminators of benign from malignant lymph nodes in patients with head and neck (H&N) squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients with H&N SCC staged for nodal disease using anatomical MRI, contrast enhanced CT and ultrasound ± fine needle aspiration gave informed consent for additional MR diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). Axial DWI was performed by short tau inversion recovery (STIR) echo planar imaging and trace weighted images obtained b 0, 50, 100, 300, 600 and 1000. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) was calcul…
Voluntad política para un tiempo de reformas: Presupuestos previos para abordar una reforma constitucional
2019
The vast majority of Spaniards is in favor of a constitutional reform. Before the undertaking of this reform, there are some previous conditions that need to be granted: a rational debate on ideas; a reduction of the political and social tension; a common goodwill to reach a consensus; and some loyalty during negotiations. As many other scholars, the author agrees that instead of talking about a constitutional reform, it would be more adequate to talk about some constitutional reforms, that should be undertaken gradually. He also stresses that these reforms do not imply the opening of a new constituent process. In addition, he underlines the fact that the Catalan crisis should not be the tr…
