Ruthenium Metallodendrimers Based on Nitrile‐Functionalized Poly(alkylidene imine)s

2005

The preparation of the first- and second-generation of nitrile-functionalized poly(alkylidene imine) dendrimers with the organometallic ruthenium complex [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] peripherally attached is described. The reaction of N,N′-bis(cyanomethyl)piperazine (1), N,N′-bis[N′′,N′′′-bis(cyanoethyl)aminoethyl]piperazine (2), or N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(cyanoethyl)ethylenediamine (3) with [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] (4) in the presence of TlPF6 gives the new air-stable ruthenium metallodendrimers 5, 6, and 7, respectively. These stable metallodendrimers are easily prepared and represent a novel quantitative method to solidify and chromatographically purify the otherwise semi-liquid nitrile-functionalize…

Combined proton NMR wideline and NMR relaxometry to study SOM-water interactions of cation-treated soils

2013

Abstract Focusing on the idea that multivalent cations affect SOM matrix and surface, we treated peat and soil samples by solutions of NaCl, CaCl2 or AlCl3. Water binding was characterized with low field 1H-NMR-relaxometry (20 MHz) and 1H wideline NMR spectroscopy (400 MHz) and compared to contact angles. From 1H wideline, we distinguished mobile water and water involved in water molecule bridges (WaMB). Large part of cation bridges (CaB) between SOM functional groups are associated with WaMB. Unexpectedly, 1H NMRrelaxometry relaxation rates suggest that cross-linking in the Al-containing peat is not stronger than that by Ca. The relation between percentage of mobile water and WaMB water in…

Diastereoselective Synthesis of Dialkylated Bis(phosphino)ferrocenes: Their Use in Promoting Silver-Mediated Nucleophilic Fluorination of Chloroquino…

2017

International audience; The diastereoselective synthesis of dialkylated ferrocenyl bis(phosphane)s bearing aryl, alkyl, and hetero- or polycyclic substituents on the phosphino groups is reported, together with their characterization in the solid state by X-ray structure analysis and in solution by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Introduction of various alkyl groups on the ferrocene backbone, namely, tert-butyl, isopropyl, and trimethylsilyl, has a significant influence on the stereoselectivity of the ensuing lithiation/phosphination reactions. Only the introduction of the tert-butyl groups ensures both a high yield and perfect diastereoselectivity, which leads to the exclusive formation of t…

Physics, Techniques and Review of Neuroradiological Applications of Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging (DKI)

2016

In recent years many papers about diagnostic applications of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) have been published. This is because DTI allows to evaluate in vivo and in a non-invasive way the process of diffusion of water molecules in biological tissues. However, the simplified description of the diffusion process assumed in DTI does not permit to completely map the complex underlying cellular components and structures, which hinder and restrict the diffusion of water molecules. These limitations can be partially overcome by means of diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI). The aim of this paper is the description of the theory of DKI, a new topic of growing interest in radiology. DKI is a higher or…

Experimental assessment of the shield-to-salt-fog properties of basalt and glass fiber reinforced composites in cork core sandwich panels applications

2018

Abstract In this paper, the effect of salt-fog exposition on the mechanical behavior of sandwich panels having cork agglomerate core was investigated. In particular, the aim of this research work is to assess the shield function of unidirectional basalt and E-glass reinforced polymer on the aging and failure mechanism of the core when such class of material are destined to operate in hostile environments (e.g., marine environment). To do this, the manufactured sandwich panels were exposed up to 60 days to salt-fog environment, according to ASTM B 117 standard. Unaged and aged specimens were analyzed through three point bending tests after aging time of 10, 25 and 60 days. Digital Image Corr…

Entrepreneurship and psychological disorders in academic publishing

2019

The role that different psychological disorders play in entrepreneurial intentions and behaviors is of increasing interest and importance to the scientific community. Scholars have undertaken a range of investigations that demonstrate that individuals with specific psychological disorders should be treated differently to other individuals. Some studies contribute to psychological disorders shifting from a disability paradigm to a paradigm of diversity. The main objective of this work is to carry out a preliminary analysis of the literature published about the relationship between psychological disorders and entrepreneurship. For this purpose, a bibliometric methodology and a fractional coun…

Distance graphs and the T-coloring problem

1999

Abstract The T-coloring problem is, given a graph G = (V, E), a set T of nonnegative integers containing 0, and a ‘span’ bound s ⩾ 0, to compute an integer coloring f of the vertices of G such that |f(ν) − f(w)| ∉ T ∀νw ∈ E and max f − min f ⩽ s. This problem arises in the planning of channel assignments for broadcast networks. When restricted to complete graphs, the T-coloring problem boils down to a number problem which can be solved efficiently for many types of sets T. The paper presents results indicating that this is not the case if the set T is arbitrary. To these ends, the class of distance graphs is introduced, which consists of all graphs G : G ≅ G(A) for some (finite) set of posi…

Effect of parametric variation of center frequency and bandwidth of morlet wavelet transform on time-frequency analysis of event-related potentials

2017

Time-frequency (TF) analysis of event-related potentials (ERPs) using Complex Morlet Wavelet Transform has been widely applied in cognitive neuroscience research. It has been widely suggested that the center frequency (fc) and bandwidth (σ) should be considered in defining the mother wavelet. However, the issue how parametric variation of fc and σ of Morlet wavelet transform exerts influence on ERPs time-frequency results has not been extensively discussed in previous research. The current study, through adopting the method of Complex Morlet Continuous Wavelet Transform (CMCWT), aims to investigate whether time-frequency results vary with different parametric settings of fc and σ. Besides, …

Enhanced supercontinuum generation in tapered tellurite suspended core fiber

2015

Abstract We demonstrate 400-THz (0.6–3.3 µm) bandwidth infrared supercontinuum generation in a 10 cm-long tapered tellurite suspended core fiber pumped by nJ-level 200-fs pulses from an optical parametric oscillator. The increased nonlinearity and dispersion engineering extended by the moderate reduction of the fiber core size are exploited for supercontinuum optimization on both frequency edges (i.e., 155-THz overall gain), while keeping efficient power coupling into the untapered fiber input. The remaining limitation of supercontinuum bandwidth is related to the presence of the high absorption beyond 3 µm whereas spectral broadening is expected to fully cover the glass transmission window…
