Global Trigger Technological Demonstrator for ATLAS Phase-II upgrade

ATLAS detector at the LHC will undergo a major Phase-II upgrade for the High Luminosity LHC. The upgrade affects all major ATLAS systems, including the Trigger and Data Acquisition systems. As part of the Level-0 Trigger System, the Global Trigger uses full-granularity calorimeter cells to perform algorithms, refines the trigger objects and applies topological requirements. The Global Trigger uses a Global Common Module as the building block of its design. A User-Balanced System for IP Telephony in WLANs

Wireless IP telephony is becoming very popular between the users of large wireless local area networks (WLANs). This increment has been mainly caused because it allows cost savings. Although, large WLANs use to provide high availability and redundancy, WLANs lack on the available throughput when there are many IP telephony users. In this paper we present a system that reallocates IP telephony devices when the system detects that an AP is overloaded. The algorithm and the frames used for our proposal are described. Measurement and Modeling of the Origins of Starvation of Congestion-Controlled Flows in Wireless Mesh Networks

Significant progress has been made in understanding the behavior of TCP and congestion-controlled traffic over CSMA-based multihop wireless networks. Despite these advances, however, no prior work identified severe throughput imbalances in the basic scenario of mesh networks, in which a one-hop flow contends with a two-hop flow for gateway access. In this paper, we demonstrate via real network measurements, testbed experiments, and an analytical model that starvation exists in such a scenario; i.e., the one-hop flow receives most of the bandwidth, while the two-hop flow starves.
