Determination of energy fluxes in composite plates or processed by Vico-constrained damping patch

2021

Lightening structures is an important issue in the world of transport. On the other hand, for the improvement of comfort, increasing performance is demanded today, particularly in the vibratory and acoustic field, which leads to the addition of damping materials. The proposed research work consists in the vibrational optimization of the structures by the addition of viscoelastic patches damping positioned wisely. The main function of the viscoelastic used to improve the vibro-acoustic performances, is to provide a mechanism of dissipation of mechanical energy. This attenuation of noise and vibrations causes a conversion of mechanical energy into thermal energy, which, after diffusion into t…

Long-distance spin-transport across the Morin phase transition up to room temperature in ultra-low damping single crystals of the antiferromagnet α-F…

2020

Antiferromagnetic materials can host spin-waves with polarizations ranging from circular to linear depending on their magnetic anisotropies. Until now, only easy-axis anisotropy antiferromagnets with circularly polarized spin-waves were reported to carry spin-information over long distances of micrometers. In this article, we report long-distance spin-transport in the easy-plane canted antiferromagnetic phase of hematite and at room temperature, where the linearly polarized magnons are not intuitively expected to carry spin. We demonstrate that the spin-transport signal decreases continuously through the easy-axis to easy-plane Morin transition, and persists in the easy-plane phase through …

A 1D coupled Schrödinger drift-diffusion model including collisions

2005

We consider a one-dimensional coupled stationary Schroedinger drift-diffusion model for quantum semiconductor device simulations. The device domain is decomposed into a part with large quantum effects (quantum zone) and a part where quantum effects are negligible (classical zone). We give boundary conditions at the classic-quantum interface which are current preserving. Collisions within the quantum zone are introduced via a Pauli master equation. To illustrate the validity we apply the model to three resonant tunneling diodes.

Time-optimal control of spin-1/2 particles with dissipative and generalized radiation-damping effects

2013

We analyze the time-optimal control of spin-1/2 particles with bounded field amplitudes in the presence of dissipative and radiation damping effects. Using tools of geometric optimal control theory, we determine different optimal syntheses for specific values of the system parameters. We show the nontrivial role of the effective radiation damping effect on the optimal control law.

Optimal control of the signal-to-noise ratio per unit time of a spin 1/2 particle: The crusher gradient and the radiation damping cases

2015

We show to which extent the signal to noise ratio per unit time of a spin 1/2 particle can be maximized. We consider a cyclic repetition of experiments made of a measurement followed by a radio-frequency magnetic field excitation of the system, in the case of unbounded amplitude. In the periodic regime, the objective of the control problem is to design the initial state of the system and the pulse sequence which leads to the best signal to noise performance. We focus on two specific issues relevant in nuclear magnetic resonance, the crusher gradient and the radiation damping cases. Optimal control techniques are used to solve this non-standard control problem. We discuss the optimality of t…

Teleportation-induced correlated quantum channels.

2009

Quantum teleportation of a n-qubit state performed using as entangled resource a general bipartite state of 2n qubits instead of n Bell states is equivalent to a correlated Pauli channel. This provides a new characterization of such channels in terms of many-body correlation functions of the teleporting media. Our model is then generalized to the Continuous Variable case. We show that this new representation provides a relatively simple method for determining whether a correlated quantum channel is able to reliably convey quantum messages by studying the entanglement properties of the teleportation mediating system.

Enhanced Nonadiabaticity in Vortex Cores due to the Emergent Hall Effect.

2016

We present a combined theoretical and experimental study, investigating the origin of the enhanced non-adiabaticity of magnetic vortex cores. Scanning transmission X-ray microscopy is used to image the vortex core gyration dynamically to measure the non-adiabaticity with high precision, including a high confidence upper bound. Using both numerical computations and analytical derivations, we show that the large non-adiabaticity parameter observed experimentally can be explained by the presence of local spin currents arising from a texture-induced emergent Hall effect. This enhanced non-adiabaticity is only present in two- and three-dimensional magnetic textures such as vortices and skyrmions…

Transition behavior in the channel capacity of two-quibit channels with memory

2004

We prove that a general upper bound on the maximal mutual information of quantum channels is saturated in the case of Pauli channels with an arbitrary degree of memory. For a subset of such channels we explicitly identify the optimal signal states. We show analytically that for such a class of channels entangled states are indeed optimal above a given memory threshold.

Quantum Theory of a Radiating Harmonically Bound Charge

2010

A phenomenological Hamiltonian giving the equation of motion of a non relativistic charges that accelerates and radiates is quantized. The theory is applied to the harmonic oscillator. To derive the decay time the physical parameters entering the calculations are obtained from the theory of the hydrogen atom; the agree- ment of the predicted value with the experiments is striking although the mathematics is very simple.

A general nonexistence result for inhomogeneous semilinear wave equations with double damping and potential terms

2021

Abstract We investigate the large-time behavior of solutions for a class of inhomogeneous semilinear wave equations involving double damping and potential terms. Namely, we first establish a general criterium for the absence of global weak solutions. Next, some special cases of potential and inhomogeneous terms are studied. In particular, when the inhomogeneous term depends only on the variable space, the Fujita critical exponent and the second critical exponent in the sense of Lee and Ni are derived.
