Domestic violence in Africa: a glance through the DHS survey

Recent data states that 33 per cent of women in Sub-Saharan Africa are survivors of domestic violence. This work aims at assessing the association between women’s characteristics, their environment, and their history of violence in fifteen African countries. Three kinds of violence were explored: physical, emotional and sexual, each one exerted by the current partner. The data are from Demographic and Health Survey, in which a special module assessed domestic violence in female respondents. In the Sumerian and Akkadian mythological literature, the ruler of the city of Uruk, Gilgameš, uproots and/or cuts down trees on several occasions: the ḫalub-tree (mahaleb cherry) linked to the goddess Inanna and the eren (juniper)/erēnu (cedar) trees of the Forest guarded by Ḫuwawa. These trees should be understood as elements of a wider "wilderness", with which they share a powerful and ambiguous ontological otherness, as opposed to the city and the country of Sumer. The observation of winged words on the Internet shows that the most memorable ones are those that come from the school reading canon and that they become an element of verbal-visual games in demotivators. At the same time, the Internet has become a catalyst, a place where very quickly the emergence of new units takes place. It is infl uenced by its unlimited range and technical capabilities that allow copying, duplication and modifi cation of new units. Adding a graphical element to them in the demotivators strengthens their impact on the recipient, allows them to evoke various emotions and, as a result, easier to remember and willing to share them with subsequent Internet users.

In the contexts where people with intellectual disability work, there are factors that determine their job satisfaction. The objective of this study was to test the adequacy of the central assumptions of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) theory in workers with intellectual disability employed in different work alternatives. Data from 362 workers in sheltered workshops and 192 workers in supported employment were utilized. The model was contrasted using a structural equation model and a multi-group analysis. Artykuł stanowi próbę wyjaśnienia globalnej popularności aplikacji TikTok, którą zdobyła w bardzo krótkim czasie. Tekst prezentuje również analizę wybranych nagrań dotyczących problematyki koronawirusa, które pojawiły się i zyskały zainteresowanie użytkowników w czasie pandemii. Intencją prowadzonych badań było sprawdzenie, w jaki sposób członkowie TikToka reagują na zagrożenie zdrowia i życia związane z chorobą COVID-19 oraz jak odnajdują się w nowej sytuacji społecznej, która wytworzyła się w obliczu trwającego stanu epidemicznego. Rywalizacja i wykluczenie a postulaty transportowe - przykłady oddziaływań

W artykule zawarto teoretyczne rozważania dotyczące oceny zależności pomiędzy poziomami rywalizacji i wykluczenia, cechującymi elementy systemu transportowego, a spełnianiem postulatów transportowych stawianych przez użytkowników transportu osobowego. Przedstawiono przykłady różnych rodzajów dóbr tworzących systemy transportowe oraz możliwe oddziaływanie poziomów rywalizacji i wykluczenia na zaspokojenie oczekiwań użytkowników transportu. Wykazano, że oddziaływanie to jest istotne, wpływa bowiem na poziom realizacji postulatów transportowych, a zatem i atrakcyjność poszczególnych form przemieszczania się osób oraz na wybory i zachowania transportowe.
