Tämän katsauksen lähtökohta on Pierre Rosanvallonin teos Demokraattinen oikeutus: Puolueettomuus, refleksiivisyys, läheisyys (Vastapaino 2013). The purpose of this article is to analyse Hobbes’s understanding of democracy. The first part of the article analyses the role of democracy in the social contract. It aims to show how there exists a democratic element at the beginning of the process of social contract, in which the multitude is transformed into a people. Celem tekstu jest analiza przemian w sferze obrony praw człowieka w Izraelu i na Palestyńskich Terytoriach Okupowanych. Rozdział rozpoczyna się od zarysowania zjawiska, jakie niektórzy komentatorzy określają mianem „putinizacji" Izraela. Następnie omawia się dławienie pokojowego oporu wobec okupacji ziem palestyńskich. Kolejny podrozdział skupia się na kryminalizacji działań obrońców praw człowieka. Ostatnia część dotyczy traktowania niektórych Izraelczyków jako wrogów swego narodu. W podsumowaniu zwraca się uwagę na negatywne czynniki, które osłabiają demokrację w Izraelu.

In the debates on deliberative democracy it’s a common idea that the defenders of this theory argue for the direct participation of the citizens in the political issues and for the transformation of our current representative devices. However, in this work I argue that this conception is misguided, and that it’s the minority who defends the direct participation. The majority of the writers acknowledges the necessity of a representative device, although based on different premises to the liberal system.
