Supramolecular order of stilbenoid dendrons: importance of weak interactions

2006

Stilbenoid dendrons with various donor and acceptor groups on the focal unit were synthesised by a Wittig–Horner reaction, starting from an aldehyde functionalised dendron and various substituted phosphonic acid esters. The target molecules are composed of meta-branched arms, two of them with extended conjugation (distyrylbenzene) and three flexible dodecyloxy chains; the focal group consists of a donor or acceptor substituted styryl unit. The cross-conjugation of the arms prevents the strong electronic influence of substituents on the two extended oligophenylenevinylene chromophores. However, intermolecular interactions mediated by the focal unit allow control of the supramolecular stackin…

Thiocarbamate-Linked Polysulfonate–Peptide Conjugates As Selective Hepatocyte Growth Factor Receptor Binders

2014

The capacity of many proteins to interact with natural or synthetic polyanions has been exploited for modulating their biological action. However, the polydispersity of these macromolecular polyanions as well as their poor specificity is a severe limitation to their use as drugs. An emerging trend in this field is the synthesis of homogeneous and well-defined polyanion–peptide conjugates, which act as bivalent ligands, with the peptide part bringing the selectivity of the scaffold. Alternately, this strategy can be used for improving the binding of short peptides to polyanion-binding protein targets. This work describes the design and first synthesis of homogeneous polysulfonate–peptide con…

Adsorption and Detection of DNA Dendrimers at Carbon Electrodes

1998

Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T19:53:27Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 1998-01-01 Dendritic nucleic acids are highly branched and ordered molecular structures, possessing numerous single-stranded oligonucleotide arms, which hold great promise for enhancing the sensitivity of DNA biosensors. This article evaluates the interfacial behavior and redox activity of nucleic acid dendrimers at carbon paste electrodes, in comparison to DNA. Factors influencing the adsorption behavior, including the adsorption potential and time, solution conditions, or dendrimer concentration, are explored. The strong adsorption at the anodically pretreated carbon surface is exploited for …

Tuning the pH-Switch of Supramolecular Polymer Carriers for siRNA to Physiologically Relevant pH

2017

The preparation of histidine enriched dendritic peptide amphiphiles and their self-assembly into multicomponent pH-switchable supramolecular polymers is reported. Alternating histidine and phenylalanine peptide synthons allow the assembly/disassembly to be adjusted in a physiologically relevant range of pH 5.3-6.0. Coassembly of monomers equipped with dendritic tetraethylene glycol chains with monomers bearing peripheral primary amine groups leads to nanorods with a tunable cationic surface charge density. These surface functional supramolecular polycations are able to reversibly bind short interfering RNA (siRNA). The nanorod-like supramolecular polymers, their complexation with siRNA, and…

Synthesis of quadruped-shaped polyfunctionalized o-carborane synthons

2011

[EN] o-Carborane derivatives with precisely defined patterns of substitution have been prepared from 8,9,10,12-I-4-1,2-closo-C2B10H8 by replacing the iodine atoms, bonded to four adjacent boron vertices in the cluster, with allyl, and subsequently 3-hydroxypropyl groups. The resulting structures, comprising four pendant arms and two reactive vertices located on opposite sides of a central o-carborane core, can be envisaged as versatile precursors for dendritic growth

Self-assembled dendrimers with uniform structure

2008

Calix[4]arenes substituted at their wide rim by four aryl urea residues (1) form hydrogen-bonded dimers in apolar solvents. Replacement of one urea residue by an acetamido moiety leads to calix[4]arene derivatives (5) which form hydrogen-bonded tetramers under the same conditions. Both self-assembly processes occur independently. Therefore, molecules have been prepared in which a tetra-urea calix[4]arene and a tri-urea mono acetamide derivative are covalently connected between their narrow rims by a long, mainly aliphatic chain [-O-(CH(2))(n)-C(O)-NH-(CH(2))(m)-O-] (7). In the presence of an equimolar amount of tetra-tosyl urea calix[4]arene () they form dendritic assemblies since the well …

Design and photophysical properties of zinc(II) porphyrin-containing dendrons linked to a central artificial special pair.

2011

The click chemistry synthesis and photophysical properties, notably photo-induced energy and electron transfers between the central core and the peripheral chromophores of a series of artificial special pair-dendron systems (dendron = G1, G2, G3; Gx = zinc(II) tetra-meso-arylporphyrin-containing polyimides) built upon a central core of dimethylxanthenebis(metal(II) porphyrin) (metal = zinc, copper), are reported. The dendrons act as singlet and triplet energy acceptors or donors, depending on the dendrimeric systems. The presence of the paramagnetic d(9) copper(II) in the dendrimers promotes singlet-triplet energy transfer from the zinc(II) tetra-meso-arylporphyrin to the bis(copper(II) por…

Ruthenium Metallodendrimers Based on Nitrile‐Functionalized Poly(alkylidene imine)s

2005

The preparation of the first- and second-generation of nitrile-functionalized poly(alkylidene imine) dendrimers with the organometallic ruthenium complex [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] peripherally attached is described. The reaction of N,N′-bis(cyanomethyl)piperazine (1), N,N′-bis[N′′,N′′′-bis(cyanoethyl)aminoethyl]piperazine (2), or N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(cyanoethyl)ethylenediamine (3) with [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] (4) in the presence of TlPF6 gives the new air-stable ruthenium metallodendrimers 5, 6, and 7, respectively. These stable metallodendrimers are easily prepared and represent a novel quantitative method to solidify and chromatographically purify the otherwise semi-liquid nitrile-functionalize…
