Integrated Reputation Analysis at Daimler

2011

Einwiller and Kuhn then describe how Daimler has developed “SCORA,” its integrated system for corporate reputation analysis. To establish the system, Daimler firstly had to determine target variables, influencing factors, and relevant stakeholder groups. The authors explain how their company has identified relevant regions, benchmarks, and the appropriate methodology for its tool. “SCORA” combines media content analysis and stakeholder surveying to fully capture Daimler’s reputation. It additionally reveals relations between stakeholders’ perceptions and the depiction of the car manufacturer in the media. An example of such an analysis concludes this chapter.

Las contiendas musicales de Apolo

2014

ABSTRACT: This article studies the contemporizing of the ethical and social connotations ascribed to string and wind instruments by the Grecolatin tradition that Hispanic Emblematics carried out in the 16th and 17th centuries. This is most evident in the depiction of the legend of Apollo in his respective musical competitions against Marsyas and Pan. This contemporizing of the legends allows us to perceive the political, social and religious dimensions that these musical contests acquire in the Hispanic World. KEYWORDS: Apollo, Marsyas, Pan, Midas, Cithern, Lyre, Aulos, Vihuela , Guitar. RESUMEN: Se examina la actualizacion llevada a cabo por la emblematica hispana de los siglos XVI y XVII …

Translation als Mythos

2020

Abstract This paper investigates the reception history of the Danish Poet and fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen in 19th-century Germany and its influence on his (auto)biographical depiction. Like many Scandinavian poets, Andersen discovered Germany’s literary potential and took advantage of it to further his career. In most cases, he was pictured as a genius who suffered systematic underestimation in Denmark. This narrative which determined his reception plays a central role in his German autobiography Märchen meines Lebens (Fairy Tale of my Life). Analyzing Andersen’s autobiographical discourse, I will reconstruct the process of the construction of Andersen’s (auto)biographical myth…

Black Sun Package. Myths and Melancholy in Irene Larsen’s Collection Sortsolsafari In this article, I analyse how the Sami poet Irene Larsen rewrites Sami oral tradition and mythology in her collection Sortsolsafari (2013, “Black Sun Safari”). I discuss how Larsen’s work differs from the mainstream of contemporary Sami poetry and other indigenous literatures. Sortsolsafari has postmodernist features, which seldom are found in Sami literature. Larsen situates mythological elements in present-day reality: a Sami goddess uses a sewing machine and a shaman logs on to the Internet. These anachronisms create a comical effect. Instead of nostalgia and anti-colonialism, which traditionally characte…

ANALISIS LAGU NO WOMAN NO CRY OLEH BOB MARLEY MELALUI PENDEKATAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA

2018

‘No Woman, No Cry’ is one of Bob Marley’s popular songs besides ‘I Shot the Sherriff,’ ‘One Love,’ ‘Is This Love,’ and ‘Three Little Birds.’ This song is worth studied since it often creates a sense of dualism and ambiguous in the meaning among fans especially the non-Jamaican audience. Despite the fact that the language of the lyric is clear but in order to have an in-depth understanding one needs to have a fit and proper approach. This is because of the locality of the context through language and cultural convention. Therefore in this research t…

‘George Mitchell’s Peace’: The Good Friday Agreement in Colum McCann’s Novel TransAtlantic

2018

The impact of the different parties and individuals involved in constructing the Good Friday Agreement has been much discussed. This chapter scrutinizes the role of the American negotiator George Mitchell, as it is presented in Colum McCann’s novel TransAtlantic (2013). It places McCann’s novelistic depiction of Mitchell’s role in the context of both Mitchell’s own autobiographical writings and other external political assessments. Mitchell’s domestic life—including his experience of fatherhood—is shown to play a crucial role in the fictional treatment of the negotiations. McCann’s own position as an Irish-American author with a globalistic bent is taken into account, as is the way in which…

Gniew człowieka w Księdze Przysłów

2018

The article is dedicated to analysis of the statements in the Book of Proverbs concerning man’s wrath. After a preliminary depiction of the attitude of man’s wrath, the author presents the basic vocabulary, namely the nouns and verbs used by the sages of Israel to convey that hard reality. In the second part of the article, after unfolding the structure of Proverbs, particular sayings mentioning the human expression of wrath are discussed. A characteristic feature of the Book of Proverbs is depicting human attitudes in parallel, thus each of the sayings is linked to a suggested positive attitude to be embraced, so as not to yield to the negative inclination toward wrath and impulsiveness. T…

L’autoreprésentation féminine dans la bande dessinée pornographique

2017

What happens when feminine authors investigate porn-comics and draw themselves in it ? Self-depiction of feminine authors conveys something original in a field where it usually is a way to express a private fantasy. From feminist comics of the 70s to the most recent porn comics, authors’ bodies are not sex objects anymore, they are the subject of a narration. Self-depiction is a new material for porn-comics and gives sincerity to the stories, it may be a way to express political views. Self-fantasy, sex confession or physical metamorphosis are the multiple ways self-depiction provides the feminine author to strengthen her authorship. Implicitly those self-depicted porn-authors draw up an in…

The trees in the middle of Paradise (Gn 2:9) during the Great Lent: Orthodox hymnography as biblical interpretation

2022

The article examines the interpretation of the Scripture in Byzantine hymnography during the Great Lent. Some notable recent contributions focus on Andrew of Crete’s and Romanos the Melodist’s compositions, illustrating the hymnographic way of understanding the Scriptures. The author of this study presents a selection of stanzas from hymns of the Triodion that refer to the trees of Paradise. Hymnography perceives the trees in Genesis 2–3 in direct connection with the cross. Only rarely is the tree of life a metaphor for Jesus, as the shadow of the tree of the cross is seldom a metaphor for protection. Another interesting aspect in relation to hymnography is the fact that it represents a typ…
