Cyanophyte calcification morphotypes and depositional environments (Alenquer oncolite, upper Kimmeridgian?, Portugal)
1985
Terrigenous red siliciclastics of Upper Kimmeridgian(?) to Portlandian age around Alenguer, Portugal, comprise a narrow level of oncoid-bearing limestones. Oncoid cortices are composed of cyanophytes which appear in different calcification morphotypes according to changing physico-chemical parameters. Recent examples reveal that in most cases each calcification morphotype is related to one single species or one defined association. Hence, the characteristic calcification patterns are mostly biologically rather than abiogenetically controlled. Oncoid shapes, sizes and arrangement, on the other hand, are mainly determined by the hydraulic parameter within the depositional environment.
Magnetoresistivity and crystal structure of epitaxial La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films
1998
Abstract We investigated thin-film growth of doped manganites by sputter deposition on SrTiO 3 (1 0 0), MgO (1 0 0) and r -plane Al 2 O 3 (1 0 1¯2) substrates and found an in-plane-oriented growth. The unit cell of the films showed distortions from the simple cubic perovskite structure, represented by a tetragonal unit cell with a′ = b′ = √2 a ; c′ = 2 a . By scanning electron microscopy we investigated the growth morphology of the films. We determined the magnetotransport properties above and below room temperature. Transport at high temperatures is best described by polaron hopping.
Optimisation of Thermochromic Thin Films on Glass; Design of Intelligent Windows
2010
Theoretically thermochromic glazing has the potential to reduce energy consumption in buildings by allowing visible light for day lighting, reducing unwanted solar gain during the cooling season, while allowing useful solar gain in the heating season. In this study building simulation is used to predict the savings made by novel thermochromic glazing coatings compared to standard products, for locations with different climates. The results suggest that thermochromic glazing can have a significant energy saving effect compared to current approaches.
Low-pressure-MOCVD LaMnO3±δ very thin films on YSZ (100) optimized for studies of the triple phase boundary
2000
Abstract This paper deals with the preparation of LaMnO 3± δ (LM) layers by low pressure-metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD) using La(tmhd) 3 and Mn(acac) 3 as organometallic precursors. By thermogravimetric analysis, these precursors were found to be suitable for LP-MOCVD in a well-defined range of total pressure and temperature of sublimation. The activation energies of the sublimation process were found to be independent of the pressure within the appropriate range (0.06–3 kPa) and their values were 177 and 100.5 kJ mol −1 for La(tmhd) 3 and Mn(acac) 3 , respectively. LM layers of various thickness ranging between a few and a few hundred nanometers with a controlled La/Mn …

Nitrogen plasma pressure influence on the composition of TiNxOy sputtered films
2002
Thin films of TiNxOy were deposited by d.c. magnetron sputtering on glass substrates using an (Ar+,N2) plasma and Ti target. The N2 partial pressure was changed from 2.3 × 10−4 mbar to 4.6 × 10−3 mbar in order to obtain films with increasing nitrogen contents. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to determine the as-deposited composition. The presence of oxygen, which is probably due to contamination from the residual atmosphere in the vacuum chamber, is always detected, both in the surface layers and in the bulk of the films, confirming the formation of TiNxOy. When the nitrogen partial pressure was increased, a maximum for the nitrogen content in the films was reached, corresponding …
Kinetic Analysis of Aluminium Evaporation from the Ti-6Al-7Nb Alloy
2014
Abstract In the present paper, kinetics of aluminium evaporation from the Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy during smelting by means of the VIM method at 5 to 1000 Pa has been discussed. To determine the liquid titanium meniscus area and the liquid titanium mean velocity for the experimental conditions of the study, a methodology based on the coupled model of the electromagnetic field and the hydrodynamic field of liquid metal was applied.
Impact of sedimentology and diagenesis on the petrophysical properties of a tight oolitic carbonate reservoir. The case of the Oolithe Blanche Format…
2013
18 pages; International audience; The Oolithe Blanche Formation was studied in three quarries, located at the south-eastern edge of the Paris Basin (France). Heterogeneities in reservoir properties were assessed through a sedimentological, diagenetic and petrophysical study. The relationships between depositional settings, diagenesis and petrophysical properties were analysed using detailed petrographic studies, image analysis, Nano CTscans and petrophysical measurements. The carbonate reservoir pore network is mainly controlled by intraparticle microporosity which ensures the connectivity with interparticle meso- and macroporosity. Early cementation vs. early compaction processes (mainly g…
