While classical European-centred heritage tourism destinations, such as the Nile valley in Egypt and Petra in Jordan, have been stagnating, other destinations, such as Egypt's coastal resort of Sharm El-Sheikh and the emirate of Dubai, are booming. La Traca was a weekly magazine published in Valencia between 1884 and 1892 and between 1909 and 1938, with periods during which it was not published because of governmental censorship. Because it was written in Valencian, the vernacular language of where it was published, it did not go beyond being a magazine of local, or at most regional, interest, circulation and importance. However, its editor, Vicente Miguel Carceller, made the decision in 1931 to edit the magazine in Spanish and he thus conquered the country’s market, resulting in circulation figures that no other publication had ever reached. El ex Servicio de Informaciones de la Policía de Santa Fe (SI) funcionó entre 1976 y 1979 como centro clandestino de detención (CCD) en la ciudad de Rosario, provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina. En el mismo se estima que permaneció secuestrada la mayor cantidad de detenidos desaparecidos en la región. En el año 2002 el ex CCD comienza a ser gestionado por diferentes organismos de Derechos Humanos locales, a través de un comodato concedido por el gobierno provincial. This study investigates the key components and influences of positive affect and electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on tourist visits at two developing urban destinations, namely Birmingham, United Kingdom and Valencia, Spain. These two data collection sites yielded evidence gathered from 627 and 615 sightseeing bus tourists, respectively. Through the analytic lens of Affective Events Theory (AET), data was examined, and results verify the significant mediating role of affect in two regards: (1) tourists’ decision to extend their visits, and (2) eWOM of sightseeing bus tour experiences.
