On the high-pressure phase stability and elastic properties ofβ-titanium alloys

We have studied the compressibility and stability of different β-titanium alloys at high pressure, including binary Ti–Mo, Ti–24Nb–4Zr–8Sn (Ti2448) and Ti–36Nb–2Ta–0.3O (gum metal). We observed stability of the β phase in these alloys to 40 GPa, well into the ω phase region in the P–T diagram of pure titanium. Gum metal was pressurised above 70 GPa and forms a phase with a crystal structure similar to the η phase of pure Ti. The bulk moduli determined for the different alloys range from 97  ±  3 GPa (Ti2448) to 124  ±  6 GPa (Ti–16.8Mo–0.13O).

Voronoin diagrammin sovellukset reitinhaussa

Reitinhaussa on tavoitteena löytää sopiva reitti paikasta toiseen. Reitinhaulle on sovelluksia monella alalla. Tässä tutkielmassa käsitellään erään laskennallisen geometrian rakenteen, Voronoin diagrammin, käyttöä reitinhaussa. Voronoin diagrammin avulla saadaan löydettyä reittejä, jotka pysyttelevät mahdollisimman kaukana esteistä. Tällainen reitti ei ole pituudeltaan optimaalinen, minkä takia sitä muokataan useissa sovelluksissa lyhyemmäksi säilyttäen kuitenkin tarvittava etäisyys esteisiin. Pinning of a kink in a nonlinear diffusive medium with a geometrical bifurcation: Theory and experiments

2004

International audience; We study the dynamics of a kink propagating in a Nagumo chain presenting a geometrical bifurcation. In the case of weak couplings, we define analytically and numerically the coupling conditions leading to the pinning of the kink at the bifurcation site. Moreover, real experiments using a nonlinear electrical lattice confirm the theoretical and numerical predictions.

Pyrazole amino acids: hydrogen bonding directed conformations of 3-amino-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid residue

A series of model compounds containing 3-amino-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid residue with N-terminal amide/urethane and C-terminal amide/hydrazide/ester groups were investigated by using NMR, Fourier transform infrared, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods, additionally supported by theoretical calculations. The studies demonstrate that the most preferred is the extended conformation with torsion angles ϕ and ψ close to ±180°. The studied 1H-pyrazole with N-terminal amide/urethane and C-terminal amide/hydrazide groups solely adopts this energetically favored conformation confirming rigidity of that structural motif. Understanding Structure and Stability of Monoclinic Zirconia Surfaces from First-Principles Calculations

Under the water-rich pre-treatment and/or reaction conditions, structure and chemistry of the monoclinic zirconia surfaces are strongly influenced by oxygen vacancies and incorporated water. Here, we report a combined first-principles and atomistic thermodynamics study on the structure and stability of selected surfaces of the monoclinic zirconia. Our results indicate that among the studied surfaces, the most stable (111) surface is the least vulnerable towards oxygen vacancies in contrast to the less stable (011) and (101) surfaces, where formation of oxygen vacancies is energetically more favorable. Questo lavoro contiene una rassegna dei metodi che sono usati per la previsione delle prestazioni del veicolo su strada, in dipendenza del motore installato. La prima parte mostra il calcolo delle resistenze al moto, cioè le forze che il veicolo deve vincere per avanzare sulle strade piane e in salita. Particolarmente interessante appare la parte che riguarda la resistenza aerodinamica, della quale si tratta di metodi sperimentali (galleria del vento), metodi empirici e metodi CFD.
