Systematic Synthesis and Properties Evaluation of Dicationic Ionic Liquids, and a Glance Into a Potential New Field

2018

Dicationic ionic liquids (DILs), a subset of the ionic liquid (IL) family, have attracted growing interest in recent years, and the range of applications within which they are investigated is constantly expanding. However, data which allows structure to property correlation of a DIL is still limited, and thus selecting an appropriate salt to address a specific challenge can be problematic. In comparison to traditional ILs, DILs physico-chemical properties can be tuned by changing the length and type of spacer which connects the cationic heads as well as the type of cation. This in turn could give rise to symmetrical or asymmetrical DILs. In this work, a systematic study of a homogeneous cla…

(μ-Acetato-κ2 O:O′)[μ-2,6-bis({bis[(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methyl]amino-κN}methyl)-4-methylphenolato-κ2 O:O](methanol-κO)dizinc bis(perchlorate)

2014

The binuclear title complex, [Zn2(C33H33N6O)(CH3COO2)(CH3OH)](ClO4)2, was synthesized by the reaction between 2,6-bis({[bis(pyridin-2-yl)methyl]amino}methyl)-4-methylphenol (H-BPMP), Zn(OAc)2and NaClO4. The two ZnIIions are bridged by the phenolate O atom of the octadentate ligand and the acetate group. An additional methanol ligand is terminally coordinated to one of the ZnIIions, rendering the whole structure unsymmetric. Other symmetric dizinc complexes of BPMP have been reported. However, to the best of our knowledge, the present structure, in which the two ZnIIions are distinguishable by the number of coordinating ligands and the coordination geometries (octahedral and square-pyramidal…

LC-QTOF-MS and 1H NMR Metabolomics Verifies Potential Use of Greater Omentum for Klebsiella pneumoniae Biofilm Eradication in Rats

2020

Bacterial wound infections are a common problem associated with surgical interventions. In particular, biofilm-forming bacteria are hard to eradicate, and alternative methods of treatment based on covering wounds with vascularized flaps of tissue are being developed. The greater omentum is a complex organ covering the intestines in the abdomen, which support wound recovery following surgical procedures and exhibit natural antimicrobial activity that could improve biofilm eradication. We investigated changes in rats&rsquo

A surgical model for isolating the pig liver in vivo for gene therapy.

2013

Several studies report results that suggest the need of vascularization blocking for efficient gene transfer to the liver, especially in nonviral gene therapy. In this study, we describe a surgical strategy for in vivo isolation of the pig liver, resulting in a vascular watertight organ that allows the evaluation of several gene injection conditions. The hepatic artery and portal, suprahepatic and infrahepatic cava veins were dissected. Then, liver vascularization was excluded for 5-7 min. In that time, we first injected 200 ml saline solution containing the p3c-eGFP plasmid (20 µg/ml) simultaneously through two different catheters placed in the portal and cava veins, respectively. Vital co…

Spectroscopic and theoretical study of the molecular and electronic structures of a terthiophene-based quinodimethane.

2004

The UV/Vis, infrared absorption, and Raman scattering spectra of 3',4'-dibutyl-5,5"-bis(dicyanomethylene)-5,5"-dihydro-2,2':5',2"-terthiophene have been analyzed with the aid of density functional theory calculations. The compound exhibits a quinoid structure in its ground electronic state and presents an intramolecular charge transfer from the terthiophene moiety to the C(CN)2 groups. The molecular system therefore consists of an electron-deficient terthiophene backbone end-capped with electron-rich C(CN)2 groups. The molecule is characterized by a strong absorption in the red, due to the HOMO-->LUMO pi-pi* electronic transition of the terthiophene backbone that shifts hypsochromically on …

Exploring the redox reactivity of magnesium porphine. Insight into the origins of electropolymerisation.

2010

International audience; Magnesium(II) porphine, MgP (1), was synthesised according to the Lindsey procedure allowing to isolate and crystallise 1-formyldipyrromethane (2) as a synthetic intermediate. Unprecedented Xray diffraction studies revealed multiple intermolecular associations in the crystal between neighbouring units of 2, namely hydrogen bond and CH … π. The electrochemical behaviour of 1 was examined by means of cyclic voltammetry. In oxydation, two well-defined and distinct steps are assigned to macrocycle concerned electron transfers yielding initially the π-cation radical and π dication, respectively. The highly reactive dication condenses neutral magnesium porphine to form a d…

Cisternostomy: A Timely Intervention in Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injuries: Rationale, Indications, and Prospects.

2019

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) represents a major public health concern worldwide, with no significant change in its epidemiology over the last 30 years. After TBI, the primary injury induces irreversible brain damage, which is untreatable. The subsequent secondary injury plays a critical role in the clinical prognosis because without effective treatment it will provide additional tissue damage. The resulting scenario is the rise in intracranial pressure (ICP) with the development of progressive neurological deficits. Current optimal management is based on a progressive, target-driven approach combining both medical and surgical treatment strategies among which is decompressive hemicraniectom…

Molar distalization with pendulum appliances in the mixed dentition: effects on the position of unerupted canines and premolars.

2004

Introduction: The pendulum appliance allows for rapid molar distalization without the need for patient compliance. Its efficiency has been confirmed in a number of clinical studies. However, the potential interactions and positional changes between the deciduous molars used for dental anchorage and the erupted and unerupted permanent teeth have yet to be clarified when this appliance is used for molar distalization in the mixed dentition. Methods: Twenty-nine patients in the mixed dentition each received a modified pendulum appliance with a distal screw and a preactivated pendulum spring for bilateral distalization of the maxillary molars. The patients were divided into 4 groups based on de…
