Hexakis(diethylacetamide)iron(II) hexahalorhenate(IV) ionic salts: X-ray structures and magnetic properties

Two novel Fe<sup>II</sup>-Re<sup>IV</sup> compounds of general formula [Fe<sup>II</sup>(DEA)<inf>6</inf>][Re<sup>IV</sup>X<inf>6</inf>] where DEA = diethylacetamide and X = Cl (1) and Br (2) have been prepared and magnetostructurally characterised. Complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphic ionic salts that crystallise in the trigonal crystal system with space group R(-3). The rhenium(IV) ion in 1 and 2 is six-coordinate with six chloro (1) or bromo (2) ligands building a regular octahedral chromophore. [EN] A novel mesoporous silica material containing boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) moieties (I) is employed for the detection of nerve agent simulants (NASs) and the organophosphate nerve or chemical warfare agents (CWAs) Sarin (GB), Soman (GD), and Tabun (GA) in aqueous environments. The reactive BODIPY dye with an optimum positioned hydroxyl group undergoes acylation reactions with phosph(on)ate substrates, yielding a bicyclic ring. Iron( ii ) and cobalt( ii ) complexes based on anionic phenanthroline-imidazolate ligands: reversible single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformations

A series of low-spin FeII and CoII complexes based on phenanthroline-imidazolate (PIMP) ligands are reported. The FeII complex (H9O4)[Fe(PIMP)3]·(C4H10O)2(H2O) (1a) shows reversible crystalline phase transformations to afford two new phases (H9O4)[Fe(PIMP)3]·(H2O) (1b) and (H9O4)[Fe(PIMP)3]·(C8H18O)(C4H10O)(H2O) (1c) by release of diethyl ether and absorption of diethyl/dibutyl ether, respectively. This reversible uptake/release of solvent molecules is a clear example of single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation involving a discrete metal complex. Dietary and Household Sources of Prenatal Exposure to Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) in the INMA Birth Cohort (Spain)

This study looked at predictors of exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) with a focus on dietary and household-level factors. Concentrations of BDE-47, -99, -153, and -209 and their sum (∑PBDEs) were measured in cord serum. Spanish women (n = 541) completed two semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires during the first and third trimesters of pregnancy. Exposure to mercury among 9-year-old Spanish children: Associated factors and trend throughout childhood

Mercury is considered a neurotoxicant and human exposure occurs mainly from the consumption of marine species. We aimed to describe total mercury concentrations (THg) and associated factors in 9-year old children, as well as to explore the trend in THg from 4 to 9 years of age. The study population consisted of 9-year-old children participating in the INMA (Environment and Childhood) birth cohort study in Valencia, Spain (n = 405, 2013–2014). Carbon and oxygen stable isotope compositions of late Pleistocene mammal teeth from dolines of Ajoie (Northwestern Switzerland)

AbstractFossils of megaherbivores from eight late Pleistocene 14C- and OSL-dated doline infillings of Ajoie (NW Switzerland) were discovered along the Transjurane highway in the Swiss Jura. Carbon and oxygen analyses of enamel were performed on forty-six teeth of large mammals (Equus germanicus, Mammuthus primigenius, Coelodonta antiquitatis, and Bison priscus), coming from one doline in Boncourt (~ 80 ka, marine oxygen isotope stage MIS5a) and seven in Courtedoux (51–27 ka, late MIS3), in order to reconstruct the paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental conditions of the region. Isotopic Anthropology of Rural German Medieval Diet: Intra- and Inter-population Variability

This study investigates the diet of an eleventh century CE parish community located in northwestern Germany. We assessed the isotopic compositions of human (n = 24) and faunal (n = 17) bone collagen (δ 13Ccol, δ 15Ncol) and human structural carbonate (δ 13Csc) using skeletal material recovered from the Dalheim cemetery. Traditional interpretation of the isotopic data indicates that Dalheim residents likely relied on a C3 plant-based diet and consumed some terrestrial animal products without evidence of marine resource input in the diet.
