Prevalence and characteristics of antidepressant drug prescriptions in older Italian patients.
2012
ABSTRACTBackground: During last few decades, the proportion of elderly persons prescribed with antidepressants for the treatment of depression and anxiety has increased. The aim of this study was to evaluate prevalence of antidepressant prescription and related factors in elderly in-patients, as well as the consistency between prescription of antidepressants and specific diagnoses requiring these medications. Methods: Thirty-four internal medicine and four geriatric wards in Italy participated in the Registro Politerapie SIMI–REPOSI study during 2008. In all, 1,155 in-patients, 65 years or older, were enrolled. Prevalence of the use of antidepressants was calculated at both admission and dis…
Common fixed points of g-quasicontractions and related mappings in 0-complete partial metric spaces
2012
Abstract Common fixed point results are obtained in 0-complete partial metric spaces under various contractive conditions, including g-quasicontractions and mappings with a contractive iterate. In this way, several results obtained recently are generalized. Examples are provided when these results can be applied and neither corresponding metric results nor the results with the standard completeness assumption of the underlying partial metric space can. Derivation of a Homogenized Two-Temperature Model from the Heat Equation
2014
This work studies the heat equation in a two-phase material with spherical inclusions. Under some appropriate scaling on the size, volume fraction and heat capacity of the inclusions, we derive a coupled system of partial differential equations governing the evolution of the temperature of each phase at a macroscopic level of description. The coupling terms describing the exchange of heat between the phases are obtained by using homogenization techniques originating from [D. Cioranescu, F. Murat: Coll\`ege de France Seminar vol. 2. On asymptotic behavior of solutions to higher-order sublinear Emden–Fowler delay differential equations
2017
Abstract We study asymptotic behavior of solutions to a class of higher-order sublinear Emden–Fowler delay differential equations. Our theorems improve several results reported recently in the literature. Two examples are provided to illustrate the importance and advantages of new criteria.

Multiple Solutions for Fractional Boundary Value Problems
2018
Variational methods and critical point theorems are used to discuss existence and multiplicity of solutions for fractional boundary value problem where Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives and Caputo fractional derivatives are used. Some conditions to determinate nonnegative solutions are presented. An example is given to illustrate our results.
A General Mathematical Formulation for the Determination of Differential Leakage Factors in Electrical Machines with Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Ful…
2018
This paper presents a simple and general mathematical formulation for the determination of the differential leakage factor for both symmetrical and asymmetrical full and dead-coil windings of electrical machines. The method can be applied to all multiphase windings and considers Gorges polygons in conjunction with masses geometry in order to find an easy and affordable way to compute the differential leakage factor, avoiding the adoption of traditional methods that refer to the Ossanna's infinite series, which has to be obviously truncated under the bound of a predetermined accuracy. Moreover, the method described in this paper allows the easy determination of both the minimum and maximum v…
Determination of differential leakage factors in electrical machines with non-symmetrical full and dead-coil windings
2017
In this paper Gorges polygons are used in conjunction with masses geometry to find an easy and affordable way to compute the differential leakage factor of non symmetrical full and dead coil winding. By following the traditional way, the use of the Ossanna's infinite series which has to be obviously truncated under the bound of a predetermined accuracy is mandatory. In the presented method no infinite series is instead required. An example is then shown and discussed to demonstrate practically the effectiveness of the proposed method.
An exact method for the determination of differential leakage factors in electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings
2016
An exact and simple method for the determination of differential leakage factors in polyphase ac electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings is presented in this paper. The method relies on the properties of Gorges polygons that are used to transform an infinite series expressing the differential leakage factor into a finite sum in order to significantly simplify the calculations. Some examples are shown and discussed in order to practically demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
3D modeling of growth ridge and edge facet formation in 〈100〉 floating zone silicon crystal growth process
2019
Abstract A 3D quasi-stationary model for crystal ridge formation in FZ crystal growth systems for silicon is presented. Heat transfer equations for the melt and crystal are solved, and an anisotropic crystal growth model together with a free surface shape solver is used to model the facet growth and ridge formation. The simulation results for 4″ and 5″ crystals are presented and compared to experimental ridge shape data.
