Mucoadhesive polymers in pharmaceutical formulations release drugs in mucosal areas. They interact and fix to mucus via molecular interpenetration, etc ., which increase drug bioavailability. Polymers physicochemical properties affect formulation mucoadhesion, rheological behaviour and drug absorption. Hyaluronan (HA) is selected as a mucoadhesive and biodegradable polymer. Resorcinarene-based ATRP initiators for star polymers

Two novel multifunctional initiators for atom transfer radical polymeriza- tion (ATRP) were synthesized by derivatization of tetraethylresorcinarene. The deri- vatization induced a change in the conformation of the resorcinarene ring, which was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy. The initiators were used in ATRP of tert-butyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate, producing star polymers with controlled molar masses and low polydispersities. A new C31 dammarane-type triterpenoid saponin has been isolated from the roots of Ampelozizyphus amazonicus. Its structure was elucidated to be ampelozigenin-15 alpha-O-acetyl- 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods, and by chemical transformations. Ampelozigenin is a novel triterpene, (20R,22R)-16 beta,22:16 alpha, 30-diepoxydammar-24(24')- methylene-3 beta, 15 alpha, 20-triol.

Two new triterpene saponins, 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->2)-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)]-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl-22-O-angeloyl-R1-barrigenol (1) and 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->2)-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)]-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl-22-O-beta,beta-dimethylacryloyl-A1-barrigenol (2), were isolated from the roots of Eryngium campestre (Apiaceae). Their structures were established mainly by 2D NMR techniques and mass spectrometry.
Characterization of Biodiesel from Vegetable Oil Using Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography

Biodiesel from vegetable oils has been analyzed and its suitability for internal combustion engines has been assessed. The Standard biofuel’s characteristics have been investigated. Gas chromatography (GC) tests were carried out to characterize the fatty acid behavior. It was found that the mass percentage of saturated fatty acids did not change substantially with time, while unsaturated fatty acids increased with time for both B100 and B30. An increase in density for B100 and B30 with time was noted. Biodiesel density was within the standardization. The calorific values of biodiesel and its blend increased with time. Abstract The problem in this work is the computational characterization of cyclodextrins, crown ethers and hyaluronan (HA) as hosts of inclusion complexes for nanosized drug delivery vehicles in pharmaceutical formulations. The difficulty is addressed through a computational study of some thermodynamic, geometric and topological properties of the hosts. The calculated properties of oligosaccharides of D-glucopyranoses allow these to act as co-solvents of polyanions in water. In crown ethers, the central channel is computed.
