Pronormal subgroups of a direct product of groups

2009

[EN] We give criteria to characterize abnormal, pronormal and locally pronormal subgroups of a direct product of two finite groups A×B, under hypotheses of solvability for at least one of the factors, either A or B.

On Balancing of a Direct Product

2009

A direct product of two sequences is a naturally defined sequence on the alphabet of pairs of symbols. By taking inspiration from [Pavel Salimov. On uniform recurrence of a direct product. In AutoMathA, 2009], where the author investigates the case of uniformly recurrent words, here, we study when the product of two balanced sequences on binary alphabet is also balanced.

On groups with abelian Sylow 2-subgroups

1970

Finite groups with abelian Sylow 2-subgroups have been classified by Walter [8]. In this note I want to describe an alternate proof of some partial result of Walter's work, namely the theorem stated below. It represents the first major reduction step in that classification. The approach used here is to some extent derived from [1]. ! Besides the groups L 2 (q)= PSL(2, q) another class of simple groups enters our discussion: We say that a simple group G with abelian Sz-subgroups is of type JR (Janko-Ree) if, for any involution t in G, CG (t) is a maximal subgroup of G isomorphic to ( t ) | E where PSL(2, q)~ E ~_ PFL(2, q) with odd q > 5. In fact, E = L 2 (q), as proved by Walter 1-7] ; and …

Nilpotent-like fitting formations of finite soluble groups

2000

[EN] In this paper the subnormal subgroup closed saturated formations of finite soluble groups containing nilpotent groups are fully characterised by means of extensions of well-known properties enjoyed by the formation of all nilpotent groups.

OnF-Subnormal Subgroups andF-Residuals of Finite Soluble Groups

1996

All groups that we consider are finite and soluble. Recall that a formation is a class of groups which is closed under homomorphic images and subdirect products. Hence, if F is a formation and G is a group which is a direct product of the subgroups A and B, then G is in F if and only if A and B lie in F. More generally, Doerk and w x Hawkes 4, IV, 1.18 proved that if G is a group such that G s A = B, then G s A = B , where G is the F-residual of G, that is, the smallest normal subgroup of G with quotient in F. The main purpose of this paper is the development of this result by means of the concept of F-subnormal subgroup. Suppose that F is a saturated formation. A maximal subgroup M of a Ž …

Applicability of Waste Engine Oil for the Direct Production of Electricity

2021

New methods for the use of waste products as input for other technologies are a constant subject of research efforts. One such product is waste engine oil. Due to the constantly increasing number of motor vehicles in the world, the recycling or application of engine oils for energy production purposes is currently of considerable importance. This paper contains research regarding the analysis of the electro-oxidation potential of waste engine oil, and thus the possibility of using such oil as a material in fuel cells. The research demonstrates the basic possibility of the electro-oxidation of this oil emulsion on a platinum electrode in an acid electrolyte (aqueous solution of H2SO4). It wa…

A reduction theorem for a conjecture on products of two π -decomposable groups

2013

[EN] For a set of primes pi, a group X is said to be pi-decomposable if X = X-pi x X-pi' is the direct product of a pi-subgroup X-pi and a pi'-subgroup X-pi', where pi' is the complementary of pi in the set of all prime numbers. The main result of this paper is a reduction theorem for the following conjecture: "Let pi be a set of odd primes. If the finite group G = AB is a product of two pi-decomposable subgroups A = A(pi) x A(pi') and B = B-pi x B-pi', then A(pi)B(pi) = B(pi)A(pi) and this is a Hall pi-subgroup of G." We establish that a minimal counterexample to this conjecture is an almost simple group. The conjecture is then achieved in a forthcoming paper. (C) 2013 Elsevier Inc. All ri…

On nilpotent Moufang loops with central associators

2007

Abstract In this paper, we investigate Moufang p-loops of nilpotency class at least three for p > 3 . The smallest examples have order p 5 and satisfy the following properties: (1) They are of maximal nilpotency class, (2) their associators lie in the center, and (3) they can be constructed using a general form of the semidirect product of a cyclic group and a group of maximal class. We present some results concerning loops with these properties. As an application, we classify proper Moufang loops of order p 5 , p > 3 , and collect information on their multiplication groups.

Running Immirzi Parameter and Asymptotic Safety

2011

We explore the renormalization group (RG) properties of quantum gravity, using the vielbein and the spin connection as the fundamental field variables. We require the effective action to be invariant under the semidirect product of spacetime diffeomorphisms and local frame rotations. Starting from the corresponding functional integral we review the construction of an appropriate theory space and an exact funtional RG equation operating on it. We then solve this equation on a truncated space defined by a three parameter family of Holst-type actions which involve a running Immirzi parameter. We find evidence for the existence of an asymptotically safe fundamental theory. It is probably inequi…
