Background Marketing cosmetic surgery is an under-researched topic in a Norwegian context, even though problematic aspects of such marketing have been pointed out in several contexts. This study draws attention to how providers of cosmetic surgery market their services, whom they target and how they do so. Abstract Stemming from a wh-question, the Sicilian marker cusà (cu sa ‘who knows’) expresses several epistemic meanings, which can also reach the realm of conditionality. The paper explores the discourse profile of cusà as it emerges from the analysis of diachronic data (from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries) and present-day informal Sicilian, namely spoken Sicilian and present-day informal Sicilian as written by speakers on the web. Kontrastywna eksplikacja zawartości znaczeniowej wybranych modeli metaforycznych, ukazanie ukrytej w nich intencji komunikatywnej jak również obrazu rzeczywistości oraz porównanie wyodrębnionych metafor na płaszczyźnie funkcyjnej i formalnej stanowiła istotny cel niniejszej pracy.

International audience; We report first results from a teaching intervention in an ordinary differential equations (ODEs) course for engineering students. Our aim is to challenge traditional approaches to teaching of Existence and Uniqueness Theorems (EUTs) through the design of problems that students cannot solve by applying well-rehearsed techniques or familiar methods. We analyse how the use of nonstandard problems contributes to the development of students' conceptual understanding of EUTs and ODEs.
