PROPAGATING INTERFACES IN A TWO-LAYER BISTABLE NEURAL NETWORK

The dynamics of propagating interfaces in a bistable neural network is investigated. We consider the network composed of two coupled 1D lattices and assume that they interact in a local spatial point (pin contact). The network unit is modeled by the FitzHugh–Nagumo-like system in a bistable oscillator mode. The interfaces describe the transition of the network units from the rest (unexcited) state to the excited state where each unit exhibits periodic sequences of excitation pulses or action potentials. Pinning of a kink in a nonlinear diffusive medium with a geometrical bifurcation: Theory and experiments

International audience; We study the dynamics of a kink propagating in a Nagumo chain presenting a geometrical bifurcation. In the case of weak couplings, we define analytically and numerically the coupling conditions leading to the pinning of the kink at the bifurcation site. Moreover, real experiments using a nonlinear electrical lattice confirm the theoretical and numerical predictions.

En este trabajo se presenta el Inventario de Pensamientos Intrusos Obsesivos para Nif'los y Adolescentes (INPIOS-NA), que recoge en 45 items la frecuencia con que se experimentan intrusiones con temática obsesivo-compulsiva. This paper is focused on the outcomes of psychotic functioning and, in particular, on individual and contextual elements that could influence the level of adjustment of a patient with schizophrenia. The case of Beatrice, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 23, is analyzed using the personal diary that she herself compiled over about fifty years, in which she documented the fundamental events of her life. Associations of neuroticism with falls in older adults : do psychological factors mediate the association?

OBJECTIVES Neuroticism predicts falls in older people. In addition, concern about falling and depressive symptoms are associated with fall risk. This study examined whether concern about falling and depressive symptoms mediate the association between neuroticism and falls. METHOD Cross-sectional data on 314 community-dwelling people aged 70–85 years were utilized. Neuroticism was assessed with a short modified form of the Eysenck Personality Inventory. Indoor and outdoor falls during the past year were self-reported.
