Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been attracting increasing interest for the fabrication of polymer-based nanocomposites because of their excellent properties. Traditional methods for the preparation of polymer/CNTs nanocomposites are in situ polymerization, solution blending, and melt mixing. Maximizing the emissive properties of CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles

Highly luminescent and photostable CH3NH3PbBr3 nanoparticles have been prepared by fine-tuning the molar ratio between CH3NH3Br, PbBr2, a medium-size alkyl-chain ammonium salt, and 1-octadecene. The nanoparticles exhibit an excellent photoluminescence quantum yield (ca. 83%) and average recombination lifetime (ca. 600 ns) in toluene dispersion.

Determination of the conformation of polymers in the amorphous solid state and in concentrated solution by neutron diffraction

Abstract From the coherent neutron scattering on dilute solid solutions of the ordinary polymer within the deuterated polymer, conformation parameters of polymer chains in amorphous solid states can be determined. In this way vitreous poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) has been investigated. The chains form unperturbed coils and the radius of gyration is very near to the corresponding value in dilute solutions of the same polymer in the low molecular θ-solvent butyl chloride. We developed a simple time-dependent mean-field theory to describe the phase separation kinetics of either homopolymers or AB-diblock copolymers in supercritical (SC) fluids. The model, previously used to describe the phase behavior of AB-block copolymers under the assumption of strong solvent selectivity for just one copolymer chain, has been extended to study the kinetics of the phase separation process. Time resolved small angle x-ray scattering (TR-SAXS) measurements have been performed on different AB-diblock copolymers containing a perfluorinated chain and dissolved in SC-CO2. The Nucleating Effect of a Semiflexible Liquid-Crystalline Polymer for the Crystallization of Poly(Phenylene Sulfide)

Abstract Blends of poly(phenylene sulfide) and a semiflexible liquid-crystalline polymer have been prepared, in the whole range of concentration, by melt mixing. The effect of the LCP phase on the crystallization of PPS has been studied by non-isothermal and isothermal calorimetry. It has been found that the addition of only 2-5% LCP into PPS strongly increases the crystallization rate of the latter polymer. This effect has been interpreted as the result of an increased nucleation density. Synthesis, Morphology and Rheological Behavior of Fluoropolymer-Polyacrylate Nanocomposites

Nanocomposite materials composed of a PTFE copolymer core and an acrylic copolymer shell have been prepared by seeded emulsion polymerization. The effect of seed particle number and shell polymer composition on secondary particle nucleation and film formation ability of the dispersions has been studied. While TEM reveals a core-shell structure present in the particles, AFM investigation of the film shows a nearly uniform dispersion of the fluorinated seed particles in a matrix formed by the shell polymer.
