Background This study examines how dogs observe images of natural scenes containing living creatures (wild animals, dogs and humans) recorded with eye gaze tracking. Because dogs have had limited exposure to wild animals in their lives, we also consider the natural novelty of the wild animal images for the dogs. Defects, Disorder, and Strong Electron Correlations in Orbital Degenerate, Doped Mott Insulators.

We elucidate the effects of defect disorder and $e$-$e$ interaction on the spectral density of the defect states emerging in the Mott-Hubbard gap of doped transition-metal oxides, such as Y$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$VO$_{3}$. A soft gap of kinetic origin develops in the defect band and survives defect disorder for $e$-$e$ interaction strengths comparable to the defect potential and hopping integral values above a doping dependent threshold, otherwise only a pseudogap persists. These two regimes naturally emerge in the statistical distribution of gaps among different defect realizations, which turns out to be of Weibull type. Pairing gap and in-gap excitations in trapped fermionic superfluids

We consider trapped atomic Fermi gases with Feshbach-resonance enhanced interactions in pseudogap and superfluid temperatures. We calculate the spectrum of RF(or laser)-excitations for transitions that transfer atoms out of the superfluid state. The spectrum displays the pairing gap and also the contribution of unpaired atoms, i.e. in-gap excitations. The results support the conclusion that a superfluid, where pairing is a many-body effect, was observed in recent experiments on RF spectroscopy of the pairing gap.

A Genome-Wide Detection of Copy Number Variations Using SNP Genotyping Arrays in Braque Français Type Pyrénées Dogs

Simple Summary Copy number variations (CNVs) are important sources of variation in mammalian species. In this study, we used a single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) array to detect CNVs in Braque Français, type Pyrénées dogs (BRA). Results overlapped moderately in comparison with previous studies on CNVs in dogs, leading to the identification of 16 novel CNVRs. Several genes were annotated in the CNV regions (CNVRs) detected, some of which related to muscle structure development. This breed is known to be excellent upland game birds dogs. This species has been recognized as the sole surviving member of the otherwise extinct rodent family Diatomyidae. Laonastes aenigmamus was initially reported only in limestone forests of Khammouane Province, Central Lao. Abstract Anaerobic digestion of grass silage in batch leach bed reactors, with and without a second stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor, was evaluated. Sixty six percent of the methane potential in grass was obtained within the 55 days solids retention time in the leach bed–UASB process without pH adjustment, whereas in the one-stage leach bed process 20% of the methane potential in grass was extracted. In two-stage operation, adjustment of the pH of influent to the leach bed reactor to 6 with HCl led to inhibition of both hydrolysis/acidogenesis and methanogenesis. Of late, however, some Post-Keynesians have sought to revive these views, claiming that Robinson was one of the original contributors to the theory of endogenous money, post Keynes. On the Relevance of Agency Conflicts in SME Debt Maturity Structure

Previous theoretical research asserts that an optimal policy of debt maturity structure mitigates the various agency conflicts that arise through debt contracts. We test this hypothesis on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), which are very sensitive to agency problems. Such problems mainly arise between owners and debt providers, due to SMEs recording high growth and having few fixed assets and informational asymmetry. We provide evidence on the relevant effect of underinvestment, asset substitution, and overinvestment problems on SME debt structure. Results appear to be robust to both the endogeneity problem of explanatory variables and the censored dependent variable.

Female leaders and financial inclusion: Evidence from microfinance institutions

This research advances the hypothesis that female leaders – chief executive officers (CEOs), chairs, and directors – of a microfinance institution (MFI) give more priority to the poorest families in loan provision than male leaders do. We differentiate between a depth and a width dimension of financial inclusion. The data set is a unique global panel of MFIs collected from MFI raters’ reports. Our sample is also unique in the sense that about one-third of all MFIs have a female CEO. The problem of endogeneity for the female leader is resolved by running Heckman’s two-step endogenous dummy variable estimation with an instrument for the female leader.
