On marginal lands in the Mediterranean basin, giant reed (Arundo donax L.) represents one of the most interesting perennial crops due to high levels of biomass production. Considering periodic water shortage during the summer months in this area, the reuse of treated wastewater (TWW) would seem to be a good opportunity for the growth of the species. ABSTRACTThis article on hand discusses results of an ethnographic study which aims to perform a detailed description of practices of doing homework in a domestic environment. Based on the international state of research, first the question and the methodical approach will be explained, subsequently the role conflicts and stress ratios developed while doing homework in a family environment will be presented on the basis of two contrasting cases. To conclude, the homework-linked intrusion of school into familiar surroundings, regarding the parental involvement in contradictory requirements, will be analysed.
Economic development and the creative industries: a tale of causality

Cultural and creative industries are thought to be a driver for economic growth. During the last decade, research has tried to link higher intensity of these industries with the region's welfare. However, this is a controversial relationship that still needs to be proved. In this article, we build a conceptual framework to help us test the possible causality between regional income generation and employment in the cultural and creative sectors. How Costly are Debt Crises?

The aim of this paper is to assess the short- and medium-term impact of debt crises on GDP. Using an unbalanced panel of 154 countries from 1970 to 2008, the paper shows that debt crises produce significant and long-lasting output losses, reducing output by about 10 percent after eight years. The results also suggest that debt crises tend to be more detrimental than banking and currency crises. The significance of the results is robust to different specifications, identification and endogeneity checks, and datasets.

A comparison of cytoplasmic and nuclear estradiol and progesterone receptors in human fallopian tube and endometrial tissue

Quantitative and qualitative aspects of the in vitro binding of 3 H-estradiol and 3 H-progesterone to receptor components from human endometrium and fallopian tube cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions were studied. The steroid binding macromolecules formed in vitro could be extracted from nuclei by 0.4M KCl and detected by glycerol gradient centrifugation. Both estradiol- and progesterone-binding compounds formed only one peak (under high ionic strength conditions) with a sedimentation coefficient of about 4-5S.
