A multisensor fusion approach to improve LAI time series
2011
International audience; High-quality and gap-free satellite time series are required for reliable terrestrial monitoring. Moderate resolution sensors provide continuous observations at global scale for monitoring spatial and temporal variations of land surface characteristics. However, the full potential of remote sensing systems is often hampered by poor quality or missing data caused by clouds, aerosols, snow cover, algorithms and instrumentation problems. A multisensor fusion approach is here proposed to improve the spatio-temporal continuity, consistency and accuracy of current satellite products. It is based on the use of neural networks, gap filling and temporal smoothing techniques. …

The gypsy database (GyDB) of mobile genetic elements: release 2.0
2011
This article introduces the second release of the Gypsy Database of Mobile Genetic Elements (GyDB 2.0): a research project devoted to the evolutionary dynamics of viruses and transposable elements based on their phylogenetic classification (per lineage and protein domain). The Gypsy Database (GyDB) is a long-term project that is continuously progressing, and that owing to the high molecular diversity of mobile elements requires to be completed in several stages. GyDB 2.0 has been powered with a wiki to allow other researchers participate in the project. The current database stage and scope are long terminal repeats (LTR) retroelements and relatives. GyDB 2.0 is an update based on the analys…
Fishery-dependent and -independent data lead to consistent estimations of essential habitats
2016
AbstractSpecies mapping is an essential tool for conservation programmes as it provides clear pictures of the distribution of marine resources. However, in fishery ecology, the amount of objective scientific information is limited and data may not always be directly comparable. Information about the distribution of marine species can be derived from two main sources: fishery-independent data (scientific surveys at sea) and fishery-dependent data (collection and sampling by observers in commercial vessels). The aim of this paper is to compare whether these two different sources produce similar, complementary, or different results. We compare them in the specific context of identifying the Es…
Interactions and resonances in quantum systems
2017
This thesis book is concerned with the interactions and resonances in quantum systems and is subdivided into three thematics. First, our work is aimed at constructing in the local limit a systematic method for a normalized vibrational Hamiltonian for a strongly excited n-degree-of-freedom molecular system from the generators of the Lie algebra, the algebra of the invariant polynomials built in classical mechanics from the the kernel of the adjoint operator adH0 . We present both the method of construction in case of absence and in case of a p : q resonance system with n degrees of freedom. Application to the non-linear triatomic molecule ClOH is then given. On the other hand, by using the LT…

Modelling and development of a generic observatory to harvest and analyze big data
2021
Big Data fascinate, both because of the value they hold that can provide a significant advantage in decision-making, and because of the challenges that their exploitation represents. These challenges are present at several levels of analytics workflows. At the level of the creation of software architectures, the volume and the velocity require at least enough performance to handle the ingestion and storage of data. The data variety has also an impact, as several new storage systems have emerged, each one corresponding to a specific need. The polystores are systems that integrate this diversity, to gain flexibility compared to the data warehouses, now too rigid. However, this diversification…
Façonner la terre. Traditions techniques des potiers dans la vallée du Rhin supérieur (Xe-VIIIe siècle av. J.-C.)
2023
How was pottery made during the Bronze Age? The technological ceramic study carried out on 16 habitation and 3 funerary sites of the upper Rhine Valley and its surroundings, which date from the 10th to the 8th centuries BC, reveals an incredible variety among chaînes opératoires. Macrotraces observed on 829 ceramics are abundantly illustrated, and their interpretation is based on a review of numerous ethnographic and experimental reference papers. The chaînes opératoires are depicted by trees following a rigorous method of hierarchical data clustering. This allows technical traditions, which are inherited and transmitted among members of social- and spatial based communities, to be reconstr…
