Quantifying the inverse spin-Hall effect in highly doped PEDOT:PSS
2020
The authors provide experimental results that show the onset of the Nernst effect, thermovoltages and an inverse spin-Hall effect in the polymer PEDOT:PSS. Specifically, the observed inverse spin-Hall effect appears to be smaller than other measurements, but in better agreement with theoretical calculations.
New n-dopable thiophene based polymers
1999
Abstract New conjugated polymers containing variable amounts of thienyl and thienyl-S,S-dioxide units have been prepared by chemical or electrochemical polymerization of the appropriate substrates. The presence of the thienyl S,S-dioxide units leads to the decrease of the LUMO energies with respect to those of the ‘all thienyl’ counterparts. Electrochemical and spectro electrochemical data of n-doping of these materials are reported.
Structure formation in doped discotic polymers and low molar mass model systems
1992
Abstract Doping of low molar mass materials or polymers, possessing disc-like units, with electron acceptors leads to the stabilization of columnar discotic phases or even to the induction of such phases in compounds which either display a nematic discotic phase or only an amorphous phase in the absence of the electron acceptor. The induced columnar phase corresponds frequently to a hexagonally ordered one. We have observed, however, in addition the induction of new columnar phases such as the rectangularly ordered (Dro) and the columnar nematic phase (Nc). The enhancement of the tendency towards the formation of columnar phases is a consequence of electron acceptor—electron donor complex f…

Photoconductivity of Poly(Arylenevinylene)S and Poly(Hetarylenevinylene)S
1994
Abstract The intramolecular condensation of aromatic Schiff bases leads under strong alkaline conditions to the poly(arylenevinylene)s and poly(hetarylenevi-nylene)s A - H. Due to the extreme stereoselectivity the resulting products are rigid, (E)-configurated polymers. The broad band gap of the unsubstituted intrinsic insulators is decreased by alkoxy substituents. Investigations of the photoconductivity and the photoreactivity, as well as of the AC-conductivity of some undoped, doped and quaternized systems are performed.
Polar relaxation mode in pure and iron-doped barium titanate
1989
A dielectric relaxation peak is reported in ${\mathrm{BaTiO}}_{3}$ and in ${\mathrm{BaTi}}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{x}}$${\mathrm{Fe}}_{\mathrm{x}}$${\mathrm{O}}_{3}$. It is nearly monodispersive, centered in the ${10}^{8}$-Hz range, and slowest at the transition temperature ${T}_{c}$\ensuremath{\simeq}413 K from the cubic to the tetragonal phase. Iron doping lowers ${T}_{c}$ and slows down this relaxation mode.
Effect of Corona Poling and Thermo Cycling Sequence on NLO Properties of The Guest-Host System
2008
In the case of doped polymer system SHG efficiency is proportional to the concentration and orientation degree of NLO-active molecules. Unfortunately, corona poling realised at elevated temperatures causes concentration decrease of NLO-active molecules due to crystallization. On the basis of our studies of the film optical images, refractive index and SHG measurements of the dimethylaminobenzylidene 1,3-indandione and PMMA guest-host system, we have demonstrated that optical quality is improved and second order NLO efficiency is higher, when the external poling electric field is switched on from the very beginning of the sample heating process.
Photoluminescence waveguiding in CdSe and CdTe QDs–PMMA nanocomposite films
2011
In this paper, active planar waveguides based on the incorporation of CdSe and CdTe nanocrystal quantum dots in a polymer matrix are demonstrated. In the case of doping the polymer with both types of quantum dots, the nanocomposite film guides both emitted colors, green (550 nm, CdTe) and orange (600 nm, CdSe). The optical pumping laser can be coupled not only with a standard end-fire coupling system, but also directing the beam to the surface of the sample, indicating a good absorption cross-section and waveguide properties. To achieve these results, a study of the nanocomposite optical properties as a function of the nanocrystal concentration is presented and the optimum conditions are fo…
Multi-photon imaging of amine-functionalized silica nanoparticles.
2012
A convenient and simple strategy for preparing water soluble, photoluminescent functionalized silica nanoparticles (M-dots) in the absence of fluorophores or metal doping is demonstrated. These M-dots can be used for bioimaging using one and two-photon microscopy. Because of their high photostability, low toxicity and high biocompatibility compared with Lumidot™ CdSe/ZnS quantum dots, functionalized silica particles are superior alternatives for current bioimaging platforms. Moreover, the presence of a free amine group at the surface of the M-dots allows biomolecule conjugation (e.g. with antibodies, proteins) in a single step for converting these photoluminescent SiO(2) nanoparticles into …
Impact of aggregates on excitation dynamics in transparent polymer films doped by dipolar molecules
2008
Abstract Optical properties of transparent polymer films of polymethylmethacrylate doped (up to 25 wt.%) by dipolar N , N -dimethylaminobenzylidene 1,3-indandione (DMABI) molecules were studied. Formation of DMABI nanocrystallites, increasing in their density and size with dopant concentration, was revealed by optical microscopy. Transformation of the fluorescence spectrum from the molecular-like emission (for the low dopant concentration below 1 wt.%) to highly red-shifted fluorescence corresponding to self-trapped excitons in the crystallites was observed. It was shown, that due to the resonant energy transfer in the blend, the DMABI nanocrystals can serve as efficient fluorescence marker…
