Jurisdiction by connection and proper administration of justice under eu regulations 1103/2016 and 1104/2016
2021
The author analyses the rules of jurisdiction by connection set by Articles 4 and 5 of Regulations No. 1103 and 1104 of 2016 in matters of property regimes of transnational couples, taking into account the objective of proper administration of justice pursued within EU Civil judicial cooperation. The Twin Regulations provide for appropriate procedural tools to facilitate concentration of jurisdiction before the courts of the same Member State, establishing an important role for the choice-of-court agreement, especially where property regime issues arise in connection with a matrimonial case or a partnership dissolution case. As we wait for the implementation of these rules by national and E…
Current air quality analytics and monitoring: a review.
2014
This review summarizes the different tools and concepts that are commonly applied in air quality monitoring. The monitoring of atmosphere is extremely important as the air quality is an important problem for large communities. Main requirements for analytical devices used for monitoring include a long period of autonomic operation and portability. These instruments, however, are often characterized by poor analytical performance. Monitoring networks are the most common tools used for monitoring, so large-scale monitoring programmes are summarized here. Biomonitoring, as a cheap and convenient alternative to traditional sample collection, is becoming more and more popular, although its main …
Correction of Long Vehicle Off Tracking by Multiple Axle Steering
2019
When planning the road vehicles for the transport of passengers or goods, engineers should take care to contrast some undesirable phenomena in the lateral dynamics, such as high-speed instability or off tracking. While the former is less troubling in the slow heavy vehicles, the latter is a serious problem due to the risk of invading the neighbouring lanes. The use of multi-wheel steering may completely cancel this drawback and, pursuing an optimized correlation among the steering angles, a functional inter-dependence based on the cubic “witch of Agnesi” is found to be very promising. Simple control systems with electromechanical or electronic components may be easily implemented for the mu…
Wireless battery charging: E-bike application
2013
Nowadays, Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) represents a widely investigated issue with respect to modern battery charging methods, by providing a wireless solution. IPT is applied across a large variety of applications, from Watt to kWatt power levels. Although IPT features great benefits in terms of safety and comfort, the most significant drawback consists of a relatively poor power conversion efficiency. In this paper, a 100W wireless charging equipment for E-bikes which improves efficiency is proposed. Complete magnetic structure design, as well as transmitter and receiver efficient architectures, are deeply exposed. The efficiency of the designed solution is shown by simulation results.
Self-establishing a Service Level Agreement within Autonomic Cloud Networking Environment
2014
International audience; Today, cloud networking which is the ability to connect the user with his cloud services and to interconnect these services within an inter-cloud approach, is one of the recent research areas in the cloud computing research communities. The main drawback of cloud networking consists in the lack of Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee and management in conformance with a corresponding Service Level Agreement (SLA). Several research works have been proposed for the SLA establishing in cloud computing, but not in cloud networking. In this paper, we propose an architecture for self-establishing an end-to-end service level agreement between a Cloud Service User (CSU) and a …
Using an Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System to Estimate the Vertical Force in Single Point Incremental Forming
2019
Manufacturing processes are usually complex ones, involving a significant number of parameters. Unconventional manufacturing processes, such as incremental forming is even more complex, and the establishment of some analytical relationships between parameters is difficult, largely due to the nonlinearities in the process. To overcome this drawback, artificial intelligence techniques were used to build empirical models from experimental data sets acquired from the manufacturing processes. The approach proposed in this work used an adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system to extract the value of technological force on Z-axis, which appears during incremental forming, considering a set of…
A greedy perturbation approach to accelerating consensus algorithms and reducing its power consumption
2011
The average consensus is part of a family of algorithms that are able to compute global statistics by only using local data. This capability makes these algorithms interesting for applications in which these distributed philosophy is necessary. However, its iterative nature usually leads to a large power consumption due to the repetitive communications among the iterations. This drawback highlights the necessity of minimizing the power consumption until consensus is reached. In this work, we propose a greedy approach to perturbing the connectivity graph, in order to improve the convergence time of the consensus algorithm while keeping bounded the power consumption per iteration step. These …
Marketing Communications of Latvian Social Enterprises from a Consumer Perspective
2020
The purpose of this study is twofold - to contribute to the further understanding of social enterprises’ marketing by providing a consumers’ perspective on the content that social enterprises generate in order for them be to be able to better understand their strengths and weaknesses and to establish a reference point with regards the current situation to be able to compare and measure improvement in with regards social enterprise marketing in the future and, if needed, provide fact-based evidence to assist social enterprises in their call for support from public authorities. Among tasks of research are 1) analysis of recent scientific publications associate with social enterprises, their c…
A Branch-and-Cut method for the Capacitated Location-Routing Problem
2011
International audience; Recent researches in the design of logistic networks have shown that the overall distribution cost may be excessive if routing decisions are ignored when locating depots. The Location-Routing Problem (LRP) overcomes this drawback by simultaneously tackling location and routing decisions. The aim of this paper is to propose an exact approach based on a Branch-and-Cut algorithm for solving the LRP with capacity constraints on depots and vehicles. The proposed method is based on a zero-one linear model strengthened by new families of valid inequalities. The computational evaluation on three sets of instances (34 instances in total), with 5–10 potential depots and 20–88 …
Computer assisted techniques for the incremental forming technology
2013
The Asymmetric single point incremental forming (ASPIF) is a manufacturing technology with a high degree of novelty. Even if there are a significant number of research results reported in the literature, the industry has not been very enthusiastic to adopt and implement it on large scale. One of the main reasons for that is the lack of specific computer aided techniques and tools, which could be used to design and optimize the ASPIF process. The paper presents some methods to overcome this drawback, either by using some general purpose computer assisted tools or by developing new simple, yet effective methods. The proposed methods can be used in the preparation stage of computer automated m…
