Exploring the Context of Product Line Adoption

2003

To successfully adopt a product line approach an organization needs to define its adoption goals, conceive a strategy, and implement a plan to achieve those goals. This process is repeated for each business unit and individual affected by the product line adoption. This paper describes how the characteristics of the market, organization, business unit, and individual influence product line adoption goals, strategies, and plans.

The role of representation and technology in product configuration.

2017

The relationship between design and visualization requires considerations about methods and techniques of representation. This is especially important today, even for industrial products as information technology is affecting their visualization and product configurator are changing the relationship among the actors involved in their production.

Researches Regarding Optimising the Contouring Precision of CNC Laser Cutting Machines

2014

This paper presents some experimental researches regarding the manufacturing accuracy of a profiling machine together with an approach to eliminate the positioning and contouring errors. A mathematical model based on transfer functions is used as starting approach in order to tune the feed drives of the machine. The accuracy of the profiling machine is tested before and after the tuning process, in order to validate the proposed approach. There are unfolded both positioning tests along one axis and contouring tests on two axes.

Implementation plan for stroke telemedicine in the Valencian Region

2016

Stroke telemedicine is a counselling modality that enables care of stroke patients at remote departmental hospitals by specialists at stroke units in reference hospitals. The planning and implementation of a hub-and-spoke telestroke network are complicated. This paper describes the implementation plan of Telestroke in the Valencian Region, Spain. A stroke telemedicine network was installed in the Valencian Region connecting the departmental hospitals with stroke teams, to the 6 public reference hospitals with a stroke unit. The implementation plan included the installation of the stroke telemedicine network with availability of connection over the internet by VPN. Strategies to ensure good …

PSYCHOMOTOR EXPRESSION AND PERSONALITY STUDY.

1964

The main purpose was to examine whether ratings of the ‘natural speed of behaviour’ are related to factors of ‘personal tempo’ found by common types of tempo tests. Psychomotor performance of varying levels of complexity was studied. In addition to standard tempo tasks, tests of maximum tempo were used. There were significant positive correlations between the ratings of the ‘natural speed’ and the tests of personal tempo, especially in ideomotor and drawing tasks, in subjects aged 13 to 14 years. In younger age groups the correlations were low. An attempt is made to interpret the results in terms of ‘working habits’.

The role of the committee of the regions (CoR) to implement the Green Deal at the local level: an overview of Italy

2021

<p>The contribution focuses on the role of cities in the implementation of the so-called Green Deal, the ambitious program proposed by the European Commission, in accordance with the objectives set by the Paris Agreements, to implement the use of clean energy resources, favour the circular economy, restore biodiversity and reduce pollution. The Plan, which for the seven-year period 2021-2027 has a budget of economic resources of 100 billion Euro, aims to involve in transcalar perspective all territorial and administrative levels of the Member States and thus contribute to the achievement, in 2050, of climate neutrality. The main objective of the work is then to concen…

An approach to evaluation of sheet bending force under successive multiaxial stress condition

2009

A new bending under tension test is presented in this paper. This method tries to evaluate bending forces in sheet under successive multiaxial stress condition. This test is carried out in only one step with a pinned cylinder over a material that has been previously deformed to pure shear condition. Due to that, the bending process is made under higher back tension forces than the ones involved in the common methods previously studied in the literature. This entails high pressure values in the sheet-bending tool contact that affects the corresponding friction process. Material is strongly strengthened as a consequence of the deformation practiced in it, and as a result of that, bending forc…

Design, build-up and optimization of a fast quenching device for polymeric thin film

2014

In this work an innovative apparatus for the characterization of polymer solidification under very high cooling rates (up to thousand of K/s) is described, according to the continuous cooling transformation approach adopted in metallurgy for studying structure development in metals. The proposed model experiment is addressed to design a method for the characterization of non-isothermal solidification behaviour, encompassing typical cooling conditions of polymer processing. Only temperature history determines the structure formed, as melt solidification takes place in quiescent conditions. With respect to the device previously developed by the authors [1, 3] the present equipment presents th…

Asymmetric Single Point Incremental Forming of Sheet Metal

2005

The use of computers in manufacturing has enabled the development of several new sheet metal forming processes, which are based upon older technologies. This paper describes modifications that have been made to traditional forming methods such as conventional spinning and shear forming, forming processes in which deformation is localized. Recent advances have enabled this localized deformation to be accurately controlled and studied. Current developments have been focused on forming asymmetric parts using CNC technology, without the need for costly dies. Asymmetric Incremental Sheet Forming has the potential to revolutionize sheet metal forming, making it accessible to all levels of manufac…

Sacripanti Unbuilt. Icons of Modernity

2021

The figure of Maurizio Sacripanti has been one of the most interesting on the Italian architectural scene since the Second World War but, in the light of the events of the last 40 years, he is also a character who, in his own right, is a corner- stone of the varied architectural thought of the peninsula. The projects of the Roman architect, from the ‘60s, far from neo-religionism, neo-liberty, neo-rationalism and other architectural trends that unfolded in those years, show us a very particular way of doing architecture characterized by a sort of apparent linguistic contradiction that instead finds its structure in a unitary and coherent thought in which there are references to other artist…
