An approach to evaluation of sheet bending force under successive multiaxial stress condition

A new bending under tension test is presented in this paper. This method tries to evaluate bending forces in sheet under successive multiaxial stress condition. This test is carried out in only one step with a pinned cylinder over a material that has been previously deformed to pure shear condition. Due to that, the bending process is made under higher back tension forces than the ones involved in the common methods previously studied in the literature. This entails high pressure values in the sheet-bending tool contact that affects the corresponding friction process. In this work an innovative apparatus for the characterization of polymer solidification under very high cooling rates (up to thousand of K/s) is described, according to the continuous cooling transformation approach adopted in metallurgy for studying structure development in metals. The proposed model experiment is addressed to design a method for the characterization of non-isothermal solidification behaviour, encompassing typical cooling conditions of polymer processing. Abstract In the present paper we discuss the possible use of ‘planning’ ° to support architectural design. Architectural design is conceived as a process incorporating non-trivial subprocesses consisting of evolutionary sequences of drawings. The ‘planner’ can be viewed as a tool capable of managing the automatic development of formal descriptions of architectural objects, according to goals and constraints which are interactively assigned or removed by the designer. The main features of a ‘planner’ dedicated to architectural design are then put forward. The system has been implemented at the University of Ancona, Italy.

AbstractThe aim of this work is the design of a new customised elbow orthosis completely realized by Additive Manufacturing and the development of generative algorithms for parametric modelling and creation of 3D patterns to be adapted to the CAD model. This work describes a method to perfect the design of a custom elbow orthosis. A reverse engineering approach has been used to digitalize the patient’s arm and the subsequent CAD modelling of the structure of the custom elbow orthosis has been performed.
