The paper deals with the studies conducted in 1951 in Brazil by Lina Bo Bardi on the issue of council houses. The three examples were never realised but do help to describe the intention of the architect to promote a “rational” way of living, from a small house to an urban complex. The first project concerns a small house with a close relationship between architecture and nature. The second project concerns three housing units that embody the idea of the housing cell as a constituent piece of a community. In international, Italian, French and German public collections, but also among private collections, there are architectural drawings by the quadrature painter Tarquinio Ligustri da Viterbo, made after 1596 and depicting portals of his invention. This corpus is mostly unpublished and has remained anonymous for centuries. The paper presents WikiArt, a new system integrating three distinct types of contents about the art: data, information, and knowledge, to generate automatically thematic paths to consult all its contents. WikiArt is a wiki, allowing to manage cooperatively documents about artists, artworks, artistic movements or techniques, and so on. Several issues related to Smart City development require the knowledge of accurate human mobility models, such as in the case of urban development planning or evacuation strategy definition. Nevertheless, the exploitation of real data about users' mobility results in severe threats to their privacy, since it allows to infer highly sensitive information. Agents in dynamic contexts, a system for learning plans

Reproducing the human ability to cooperate and collaborate in a dynamic environment is a significant challenge in the field of human-robot teaming interaction. Generally, in this context, a robot has to adapt itself to handle unforeseen situations. The problem is runtime planning when some factors are not known before the execution starts. This work aims to show and discuss a method to handle this kind of situation. Our idea is to use the Belief-Desire-Intention agent paradigm, its the Jason reasoning cycle and a Non-Axiomatic Reasoning System. The result is a novel method that gives the robot the ability to select the best plan.

This article focuses on Goethe’s specific concept of drawing as it appears to the reader through the pages of his Italian journey. A fundamental role is played in this discourse by Christoph Heinrich Kniep, a young German draughtsman who has been recommended to Goethe by his friend, the painter Tischbein, and who accompanied the poet during his trip to Sicily. Secondo questa proposta di lettura dell'opera grafica di Dino Buzzati, che può essere estesa anche ad altri autori dal doppio talento, i disegni ai margini della scrittura possono essere interpretati allora nella loro funzione di relazione tra le arti che si risolve in una interazione, una negoziazione, uno slittamento oppure un conflitto, una cancellatura. Inoltre le annotazioni ai margini della scrittura, soprattutto nelle loro versioni grafiche, costituiscono una forma di introspezione autobiografica assai preziosa per ricostruire il profilo del loro autore, se scrittore e disegnatore al contempo.

A drawing is the result of the production of marks on a surface with suitable means to represent a scene, concrete or abstract objects for technological, scientific, artistic, communicative aims. Some theories claimed that drawing is founded on symbolic systems that are culture-dependent. Evidence has been found that the ability of recognizing what drawings represent is widespread across ages, cultures and species. Drawing may be founded on shared cognitive capacities. These capacities can be abstractly described as the graphic and the denotation system.
A new approach for deducing the stage-discharge relationship of triangular in plan sharp-crested weirs

Abstract In this paper, the outflow process of a triangular in plan sharp-crested weir is studied using the dimensional analysis and the incomplete self-similarity theory. The new stage-discharge is theoretically deduced and its testing is carried out using measurements available in literature.

Questo saggio riguarda l’attività di una donna che può essere considerata una delle prime protagoniste e probabilmente, parafrasando Nikolaus Pevsner, una delle prime pioniere del Movimento Moderno a Palermo, un contesto culturale complesso.
