Die Verwertung von per os gegebenem Xylit wird durch das Auftreten osmotisch bedingter Durchfalle infolge der langsamen Resorption begrenzt. Die Verhaltnisse liegen hier analog wie bei Sorbit, Mannose, Xylose und anderen Kohlenhydraten. 10% Xylit im Futter werden symptomlos vertragen und im Stoffwechsel calorisch verwertet, wie aus Wachstumskurven, Protein-Efficiency und Fortpflanzung hervorgeht. Auch die Verfutterung wesentlich hoherer Xylitdosen bedingt keine anatomisch-histologisch. nachweisbare Schaden. Bei Verfutterung von 15% Xylit im Futter werden hochstens Spuren Xylit im Harn ausgeschieden.

Organic nitrates are a group of very effective anti-ischemic drugs. They are used for the treatment of patients with stable angina, acute myocardial infarction and chronic congestive heart failure. A major therapeutic limitation inherent to organic nitrates is the development of tolerance, which occurs during chronic treatment with these agents. The mechanisms underlying nitrate tolerance remain incompletely defined and are likely multifactorial. Introduction Diuretic responsiveness in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) is better assessed by urine production per unit diuretic dose than by the absolute urine output or diuretic dose. Objective— Nitrate tolerance is likely attributable to an increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leading to an inhibition of the mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH-2), representing the nitroglycerin (GTN) and pentaerythrityl tetranitrate (PETN) bioactivating enzyme, and to impaired nitric oxide bioactivity and signaling. Effects of acute and chronic maprotiline administration on inhibitory avoidance in male mice

The effects of acute and chronic administration of maprotiline (5, 10 or 20 mg/kg, intraperitoneally) were assessed on inhibitory avoidance in male mice. Acute administration of maprotiline before training did not effect training phase latencies, but impaired performance (i.e. produced shorter latencies) in the test at doses of 5 and 20 mg/kg. When given after training, the drug did not modify test latencies at any of the doses used. Development of tolerance to the antiaggressive effects of morphine

Many reports have demonstrated that there is a development of tolerance to many effects produced by morphine. This study was conducted with the aim of determining whether the antiaggressive actions of morphine develop tolerance after chronic administration. Acute morphine administration produced antiaggressive effects which disappeared after chronic (7 days) treatment in isolated mice. An increase in non-social exploration was observed, representing morphine-induced hyperactivity, after acute treatment, which was not present after chronic administration.
