As the periodic emission of light pulses by light emitting diodes (LEDs) is known to stimulate growth or induce high value biocompounds in microalgae, this flashing light regime was tested on growth and biochemical composition of the microalgae Nannochloropsis gaditana, Koliella antarctica and Tetraselmis chui. At low flashing light frequencies (e.g., 5 and 50 Hz, Duty cycle = 0.05), a strain-dependent growth inhibition and an accumulation of protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, chlorophyll or carotenoids (lutein, β-carotene, violaxanthin and neoxanthin) was observed. The article analyses a recent significant case in the Court of Justice of the European Union on the extent of compulsory insurance in the field of motor insurance. The judgment delivered by the Grand Chamber of the CJEU on 04 September 2018 clarifies the obligation to conclude a motor insurance contract in a situation when a motor vehicle is no longer intended to be used in road traffic. Abstract Purpose We investigated experiences of families who provide consent for research on behalf of a loved-one hospitalized in intensive care (ICU). Methods Multicentre, qualitative, descriptive study using semi-directive interviews in 3 ICUs. Eligible relatives were aged >18 years, and had provided informed consent for a clinical trial on behalf of a patient hospitalized in ICU. Interviews were conducted from 06/2018 to 06/2019 by a qualified sociologist, recorded and transcribed. Results Fifteen relatives were interviewed; average age 50.3 ± 15 years. Algebraic real-time algorithm for B-Spline sinusoidal pulse width modulation in three phase voltage source inverters.

In this paper a novel algebraic real-time algorithm for implementation of sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) based on B-spline carriers is introduced and discussed. B-spline functions are used as carrier signals with the aim to to reduce harmonic content of the three phase inverter output voltage. This algorithm eliminates the problem of B-spline recursive evaluation with convolution integrals or convolution sums in digital counterpart. The pulse pattern synthesis is made with the help pre-calculated duty cycle expressions. This paper presents a mathematical analysis of the electric field and interfacial free charge experienced by the emulsion in an electrostatic coalescer that is subjected to a pulsed dc voltage. Previous work in this area is re-assessed, but the analysis is expanded. A novel static analysis of the system is presented, giving valuable physical insight. It becomes obvious that there must be a limited range of frequencies that are effective in a pulsed dc scheme.
