[EN] In heavy-duty vehicles, multiple signals are available to estimate the vehicle's kinematics, such as Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Global Positioning System (GPS) and linear and angular speed readings from wheel tachometers on the internal Controller Area Network (CAN). These signals have different noise variance, bandwidth and sampling rate (being the latter, possibly, irregular). Many recent studies anticipate that wake-up radio (WuR) will replace traditional duty-cycled (DC) protocols given its overwhelming performance superiority on energy consumption. Meanwhile, the question on whether WuR performs always better than DC protocols has not been answered explicitly. In this paper, we investigate in-depth the energy consumption performance of WuR by considering various levels of traffic load in a wireless sensor network. Gender-specific Call of Duty: A Note on the Neglect of Conscription in Gender Equality Indices

We document that existing gender equality indices do not account for gender-specific mandatory peace-time conscription (compulsory military service). This suggests that gender-specific conscription is not considered to be an important gender issue. If an indicator measuring the gender equality of mandatory conscription was to be included in gender equality indices with appropriate weight, then the relative rankings of countries in terms of measured gender equality could be affected. Because linear control design methods do not take into account the nonlinearity of the system, a T-S fuzzy model and a controller design approach is used.
