Grid-Following and Grid-Forming MODELS in ATP-EMTP for Power Systems Simulation

2022

The paper presents the models of grid-following and grid-forming converters in the software ATP-EMTP for power systems simulation. The models are developed using the MODELS language, they are described in details discussing all issues and aspects related to the implementation, and they are also shared as open source models. The models are validated with a simulation-based approach, comparing the results with the models developed in MATLAB/Simulink and in NEPLAN, considering both the phasor RMS and EMT time domains, and thus performing a comprehensive cross-platform and cross-domain validation. In line with the spirit of the ATP software and community, the models of grid-following and grid-f…

Dynaaminen hinnoittelu verkkokaupoissa

2016

Tämän kandidaattitutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää kirjallisuuskatsauksella, minkälaisia dynaamisen hinnoittelun mahdollisuuksia yrityksellä on verkkokaupoissa. Tutkielmassa käydään läpi, mitä dynaaminen hinnoittelu on, millaisia dynaamisen hinnoittelun malleja on olemassa, minkälaista tietoa minkä- kin mallin käyttö tarvitsee, miten tietoa haetaan ja käsitellään sekä millaisia riskejä dynaamiseen hinnoitteluun sisältyy. Dynaaminen hinnoittelu on hinnoittelumalli, jossa hintaa muutellaan hinnoitteluun liittyvien tietojen perusteen. Dynaamisilla hinnoittelumetodeilla pyritään selvittämään asiakkaan maksuhalukkuus, hinnoitella tuote tai palvelu sen mukaan, ja näin saada maksuhalukkaammilt…

Quasiconformal Jordan Domains

2020

We extend the classical Carath\'eodory extension theorem to quasiconformal Jordan domains $( Y, d_{Y} )$. We say that a metric space $( Y, d_{Y} )$ is a quasiconformal Jordan domain if the completion $\overline{Y}$ of $( Y, d_{Y} )$ has finite Hausdorff $2$-measure, the boundary $\partial Y = \overline{Y} \setminus Y$ is homeomorphic to $\mathbb{S}^{1}$, and there exists a homeomorphism $\phi \colon \mathbb{D} \rightarrow ( Y, d_{Y} )$ that is quasiconformal in the geometric sense. We show that $\phi$ has a continuous, monotone, and surjective extension $\Phi \colon \overline{ \mathbb{D} } \rightarrow \overline{ Y }$. This result is best possible in this generality. In addition, we find a n…

Public vs private universities in Nigeria: Market dynamics perspective

2020

Due to the scarcity of literature on developing countries of Africa, there is a need for a conceptual paper on the market dynamics perspective of the Nigerian public and private universities. The price signal influences the two-tier universities’ growth. This signal has a different impact on its stakeholders. This study intends to examine the market dynamics of public and private universities in Nigeria. It aims to ascertain how price signal affects the Nigerian public and private universities market and the distinct factors that differentiate the public from private universities in the Nigerian context. The study conducted a literature review to identify the external and internal influence…

Probabilistic Evaluation of the Adaptation Time for Structures under Seismic Loads

2016

Abstract In this paper, a probabilistic approach for the evaluation of the adaptation time for elastic perfectly plastic frames is proposed. The considered load history acting on the structure is defined as a suitable combination of quasi-statical loads and seismic actions. The proposed approach utilizes the Monte Carlo method in order to generate a suitable large number of seismic acceleration histories and for each one the related load combination is defined. Furthermore, for each load combination the related adaptation time is determined, if any, as the optimal one for which the structure is able to shakedown under the unamplified applied actions. A known generalized Ceradini's theorem i…

A study on the assessment of the production costs curves in micro-grids

2013

In micro-grids, due to their small scale, there is commonly only one power supplier. A competitive wholesale market hardly exists, so the question about how to consider market issues for small producers within micro-grids arises. On the other hand, the specific features of micro-grids where load and generated power hardly find a balance, require that customers take part to regulation issues, also using demand-response (DR) programs. In this paper, price responsive (PR) policies and their programs are discussed to answer this question. A case study of a micro-grid with one micro-turbine and two photovoltaic (PV) generators is analyzed to assess the overall production cost in order to build a…

Productive Efficiency of Decanters with Short and Variable Dynamic Pressure Cones

2003

Abstract This paper presents the results of experimental trials carried out on third-generation, variable dynamic pressure cone decanters to assess machine performance and adjust the process parameters for optimum extraction yield. The results obtained led to the following conclusions: the regulation of the differential velocity screw/bowl allows a better performance of the decanter at low dilutions of the olive paste; it is possible to obtain high efficiency at a low dilution of the olive paste achieving a higher minor compounds content and the more advanced system of regulation leads to better results according to the variations of the ratio between liquid and solid phases, thus optimisin…

Institutional perspectives in transition : research groups’ profiles and embeddedness in organisational and national context

2019

Research into differentiation and profiling of knowledge producing institutions through the lenses of institutional logics and field embeddedness have proliferated in recent years. By discussing this process in the context of research groups, as those basic units in which knowledge production epistemically and practically takes place, this article offers a contribution to the theoretical discussion on organisational differentiation. Based on a small-N comparative case study of research groups operating in different national and organisational contexts on a single, highly competitive and interdisciplinary applied sciences field, nanosciences, the article proposes research group profiles as h…

PROPAGATING INTERFACES IN A TWO-LAYER BISTABLE NEURAL NETWORK

2006

The dynamics of propagating interfaces in a bistable neural network is investigated. We consider the network composed of two coupled 1D lattices and assume that they interact in a local spatial point (pin contact). The network unit is modeled by the FitzHugh–Nagumo-like system in a bistable oscillator mode. The interfaces describe the transition of the network units from the rest (unexcited) state to the excited state where each unit exhibits periodic sequences of excitation pulses or action potentials. We show how the localized inter-layer interaction provides an "excitatory" or "inhibitory" action to the oscillatory activity. In particular, we describe the interface propagation failure a…
