Background: Hemifacial spasm (HS) and spasmodic torticollis (ST) are well-known disorders that are caused by a neurovascular conflict. HS is characterized by irregular, involuntary muscle contractions on one side of the face due to spasms of orbicularis oris and orbicularis oculi muscles, and is usually caused by vascular compression of the VII cranial nerve. ST is an extremely painful chronic movement disorder causing the neck to involuntary turn to the side, upward and/or downward. HS is usually idiopathic but it is rarely caused by a neurovascular conflict with the XI cranial nerve. Psychophysical laws quantitatively relate perceptual magnitude to stimulus intensity. While most people have accepted Stevens's power function as the psychophysical law, few believe in Fechner's original idea using just-noticeable-differences (jnd) as a constant perceptual unit to educe psychophysical laws. Here I present a unified theory in hearing, starting with a general form of Zwislocki's loudness function (1965) to derive a general form of Brentano's law. Mosses are good bioaccumulators of radionuclides and from the 60 of the last century, they are used as bioindicators of radioactive contamination in the environment. Concentration of impurities in moss represent the accumulation in mosses during the past 2-3 years. As a result, the moss composition analysis provides information on an average contamination within a few vegetation seasons. La encefalopatía hepática (EH) es un síndrome neuropsiquiátrico complejo que resulta de la insuficiencia hepática. La insuficiencia hepática induce hiperamonemia e inflamación periférica dando lugar a neuroinflamación con activación de microglía y astrocitos y aumento de los niveles de citocinas proinflamatorias. La neuroinflamación altera la neurotransmisión, lo que lleva a un deterioro cognitivo y motor. Las ratas con hiperamonemia crónica reproducen los déficits cognitivos y motores que presentan los pacientes con encefalopatía hepática mínima (EMH).
