The Nunatak Viedma within the Southern Patagonian Icefield has been considered as a volcanic center based on its geomorphologic features, despite the fact that field explorations by Eric Shipton determined its metamorphic nature 70 years ago. We carried out fieldwork to characterize this isolated outcrop and performed the first U-Pb dating in detrital zircons from the basement rocks located inside the Southern Patagonian Icefield. We recognized very-low grade metamorphic rocks, corresponding principally to metapelites and metapsammites, and scarce metabasites. Sequencing and analysis of the gene encoding the α-toxin of Clostridium novyi proves its homology to toxins A and B of Clostridium difficile

A library of total Clostridium novyi DNA was established and screened for the alpha-toxin gene (tcn alpha) by hybridization with oligonucleotides derived from a partial N-terminal sequence and by using specific antisera. Overlapping subgenic tcn alpha fragments were isolated and subsequently the total sequence of tcn alpha was determined. The 6534 nucleotide open reading frame encodes a polypeptide of M(r) 250,166 and pI 5.9. The N-terminal alpha-toxin (Tcn alpha) sequence MLITREQLMKIASIP determined by Edman degradation confirmed the identity of the reading frame and the assignment of the translation start point. Yersinia ruckeri, the aetiological agent of enteric redmouth disease (ERM), is now generally recognized to be distributed worldwide. The pathology and epizootiology of the disease was first described by Rucker (1966) and although rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri Richardson, has been the most frequently affected species, all salmonids are now considered to be potential hosts for the organism (McDaniel 1979). Based on recent studies on materiality, picturebook research, and cognitive studies, this paper investigates how children may perceive picturebooks as objects and their material properties. In this regard, we emphasise three dimensions of picturebooks as objects and relate them to developmental stages. The first dimension concerns the materials the picturebooks are composed of, such as paper, cardboard, wood, plastics, and cloth. Projekta debašu līderu skola ietvaros, darba autore izveidoja debašu klubu Garkalnes Mākslu un vispārizglītojošajā vidusskolā. Pēc pirmajām tikšanās reizēm ar 7-9 klases skolēniem, darba autore konstatēja, ka viņiem trūkst argumentēšanas prasmes. Tika nolemts izmantot Edmodo platformu, lai palīdzētu skolēniem veicināt šīs prasmes. Pētījuma metode bija gadījuma pētījums Garkalnes Mākslu un vispārizglītojošajā vidusskolā no novembra 2016 līdz aprīlim 2017 un tajā piedalījās 8 skolēni. Pētījuma laikā tika analizētas pētījuma piezīmes, skolēniem tika plānotas un izsniegtas sešas anketas, veiktas divas intervijas un analizēti trīs debašu ieraksti.
