A strong electroweak phase transition from the inflaton field
2016
We study a singlet scalar extension of the Standard Model. The singlet scalar is coupled non-minimally to gravity and assumed to drive inflation, and also couple sufficiently strongly with the SM Higgs field in order to provide for a strong first order electroweak phase transition. Requiring the model to describe inflation successfully, be compatible with the LHC data, and yield a strong first order electroweak phase transition, we identify the regions of the parameter space where the model is viable. We also include a singlet fermion with scalar coupling to the singlet scalar to probe the sensitivity of the constraints on additional degrees of freedom and their couplings in the singlet sec…
Geometry and feedback classification of low-dimensional non-linear control systems
2006
The purpose of this thesis is the study of the local and global differential geometry of fully nonlinear smooth control systems on two-dimensional smooth manifolds. We are particularly interested in the feedback-invariants of such systems. In a first part we will use the Cartan's moving frame method in order to determine these invariants and we will see that one of the most important feedback-invariants is the control analogue to the Gaussian curvature of a surface. As we will explain it, the control curvature reveals very precious information on the optimal synthesis of time optimal problems. In a second part we will construct some microlocal normal forms for time optimal control systems a…
Evaluation of menstrual irregularities after COVID-19 vaccination: Results of the MECOVAC survey
2022
Abstract We investigated menstrual irregularities after the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Women answered a customised online questionnaire (ClinicalTrial.gov ID: NCT05083065) aimed to assess the vaccine type, the phase of the menstrual cycle during which the vaccine was administered, the occurrence of menstrual irregularities after the first and second doses, and how long this effect lasted. We excluded women with gynaecological and non-gynaecological diseases, undergoing hormonal and non-hormonal treatments, in perimenopause or menopause, as well as those who had irregular menstrual cycles in the last 12 months before vaccine administration. According to our data analysis…
A recent judgment of the Supreme Court narrows the rights of banks, as mortgagee creditors, to seize the assets of the debtor notwithstanding bankruptcy proceedings, according to paragraph 41, subsection 2, of the Italian Consolidated Law on Bank…

Criteria for selecting children with special needs for dental treatment under general anaesthesia
2007
Objective: To study criteria for helping to select children with special needs for dental treatment under general anaesthesia. Materials and methods: Group of 30 children (aged under 18) examined on the Course at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) (Specialisation on holistic dental treatment of children with special needs) and subsequently referred to the Disabled Children’s Oral Health Unit (DCOHU) within Primary Health Care Area 2 of the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS) where dental treatment under general anaesthesia was given during 2005. Relevant data were taken from their case histories with regard to their general health, oral health and behaviour. Results: In most of the chil…
Accuracy of risk tools to predict critical bleeding in major trauma: A systematic review with meta-analysis.
2021
BACKGROUND Early detection of critical bleeding by accurate tools can help ensure rapid delivery of blood products to improve outcomes in major trauma patients. We conducted a systematic review to evaluate the accuracy of risk tools to predict critical bleeding in patients with major trauma. METHODS PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL were searched up to February 2021 for studies investigating risk tools to predict critical bleeding for major trauma people in prehospital and emergency department. We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Diagnostic Test Accuracy study guidelines. Two independent authors included studies, extracted data, appraised the quali…

Predicting needlestick and sharps injuries in nursing students: Development of the SNNIP scale
2020
© 2020 The Authors. Nursing Open published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Aim: To develop an instrument to investigate knowledge and predictive factors of needlestick and sharps injuries (NSIs) in nursing students during clinical placements. Design: Instrument development and cross-sectional study for psychometric testing. Methods: A self-administered instrument including demographic data, injury epidemiology and predictive factors of NSIs was developed between October 2018–January 2019. Content validity was assessed by a panel of experts. The instrument's factor structure and discriminant validity were explored using principal components analysis. The STROBE guidelines were followed. Results: E…
Impact de la conduite des cultures intermédiaires sur la flore adventice : résultats de l’analyse de 31 essais
2022
Data of 31 field trials were analysed to quantify the impact of cover crops grown during summerfallow on weeds during this period. Results show that weed abundance at the date of cover-cropdestruction greatly varies between experimental locations which differed in terms of pedoclimate, previous crop etc. Cover-crop above-ground biomass did not impact weed plant density. However, weed above-ground biomass decreased with increasing cover-crop biomass. Cover-crop speciesgreatly differed in their ability to reduce weed biomass, according to their own biomass, their speedof soil coverage at early stages and their above-ground plant morphology. Cover crops with highlevels of biomass and rapid soil …
