(H,ρ)-induced dynamics and large time behaviors

2018

Abstract In some recent papers, the so called ( H , ρ ) -induced dynamics of a system S whose time evolution is deduced adopting an operatorial approach, borrowed in part from quantum mechanics, has been introduced. Here, H is the Hamiltonian for S , while ρ is a certain rule applied periodically (or not) on S . The analysis carried on throughout this paper shows that, replacing the Heisenberg dynamics with the ( H , ρ ) -induced one, we obtain a simple, and somehow natural, way to prove that some relevant dynamical variables of S may converge, for large t , to certain asymptotic values. This cannot be so, for finite dimensional systems, if no rule is considered. In this case, in fact, any …

Variable Length Memory Chains: Characterization of stationary probability measures

2021

Variable Length Memory Chains (VLMC), which are generalizations of finite order Markov chains, turn out to be an essential tool to modelize random sequences in many domains, as well as an interesting object in contemporary probability theory. The question of the existence of stationary probability measures leads us to introduce a key combinatorial structure for words produced by a VLMC: the Longest Internal Suffix. This notion allows us to state a necessary and sufficient condition for a general VLMC to admit a unique invariant probability measure. This condition turns out to get a much simpler form for a subclass of VLMC: the stable VLMC. This natural subclass, unlike the general case, enj…

On statistical inference for the random set generated Cox process with set-marking.

2007

Cox point process is a process class for hierarchical modelling of systems of non-interacting points in ℝd under environmental heterogeneity which is modelled through a random intensity function. In this work a class of Cox processes is suggested where the random intensity is generated by a random closed set. Such heterogeneity appears for example in forestry where silvicultural treatments like harvesting and site-preparation create geometrical patterns for tree density variation in two different phases. In this paper the second order property, important both in data analysis and in the context of spatial sampling, is derived. The usefulness of the random set generated Cox process is highly…

Main individual and product characteristics influencing in-mouth flavour release during eating masticated food products with different textures: mech…

2013

Research Areas: Life Sciences & Biomedicine - Other Topics; Mathematical & Computational Biology; A mechanistic model predicting flavour release during oral processing of masticated foods was developed. The description of main physiological steps (product mastication and swallowing) and physical mechanisms (mass transfer, product breakdown and dissolution) occurring while eating allowed satisfactory simulation of in vivo release profiles of ethyl propanoate and 2-nonanone, measured by Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry on ten representative subjects during the consumption of four cheeses with different textures. Model sensitivity analysis showed that the main paramet…

MODERATE DEVIATION PRINCIPLES FOR BIFURCATING MARKOV CHAINS: CASE OF FUNCTIONS DEPENDENT OF ONE VARIABLE

2021

The main purpose of this article is to establish moderate deviation principles for additive functionals of bifurcating Markov chains. Bifurcating Markov chains are a class of processes which are indexed by a regular binary tree. They can be seen as the models which represent the evolution of a trait along a population where each individual has two offsprings. Unlike the previous results of Bitseki, Djellout \& Guillin (2014), we consider here the case of functions which depend only on one variable. So, mainly inspired by the recent works of Bitseki \& Delmas (2020) about the central limit theorem for general additive functionals of bifurcating Markov chains, we give here a moderate deviatio…

Contributed discussion on article by Pratola

2016

The author should be commended for his outstanding contribution to the literature on Bayesian regression tree models. The author introduces three innovative sampling approaches which allow for efficient traversal of the model space. In this response, we add a fourth alternative.

Control of N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalyzed Reactions of Enals: Asymmetric Synthesis of Oxindole-γ-Amino Acid Derivatives.

2017

A strategy to control the switch between a non‐cycloaddition reaction and a cycloaddition reaction of enals, using N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyisis, has been developed. The new scalable protocol leads to γ‐amino‐acid esters bearing a tetrasubstituted stereocenter in good yields and high stereoselectivities by homo‐Mannich reactions of enals and isatin‐derived ketimines. By simply changing the N‐ketimine substituent to an ortho‐hydroxy phenyl group, the corresponding spirocyclic oxindolo‐γ‐lactams are obtained. peerReviewed

Catalytic Enantioselective Total Synthesis of (+)-Lycoperdic Acid.

2020

A concise enantio- and stereocontrolled synthesis of (+)-lycoperdic acid is presented. The stereochemical control is based on iminium-catalyzed Mukaiyama–Michael reaction and enamine-catalyzed organocatalytic α-chlorination steps. The amino group was introduced by azide displacement, affording the final stereochemistry of (+)-lycoperdic acid. Penultimate hydrogenation and hydrolysis afforded pure (+)-lycoperdic acid in seven steps from a known silyloxyfuran. peerReviewed

Sterile neutrino portal to Dark Matter II: exact dark symmetry

2017

We analyze a simple extension of the Standard Model (SM) with a dark sector composed of a scalar and a fermion, both singlets under the SM gauge group but charged under a dark sector symmetry group. Sterile neutrinos, which are singlets under both groups, mediate the interactions between the dark sector and the SM particles, and generate masses for the active neutrinos via the seesaw mechanism. We explore the parameter space region where the observed Dark Matter relic abundance is determined by the annihilation into sterile neutrinos, both for fermion and scalar Dark Matter particles. The scalar Dark Matter case provides an interesting alternative to the usual Higgs portal scenario. We also…

Minimal Supergravity Scalar Neutrino Dark Matter and Inverse Seesaw Neutrino Masses

2008

We show that within the inverse seesaw mechanism for generating neutrino masses minimal supergravity is more likely to have a sneutrino as the lightest superparticle than the conventional neutralino. We also demonstrate that such schemes naturally reconcile the small neutrino masses with the correct relic sneutrino dark matter abundance and accessible direct detection rates in nuclear recoil experiments.
