Abstract Background High levels of psychological distress and poor overall quality of life (QOL) have been identified among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic necessitated improvised reconstructions of educational curriculums and restrictions in clinical placement and training at campuses, possibly reducing educational quality. Objectives We explored whether baccalaureate nursing students’ concerns and satisfaction with the educational curriculum, focusing on the conduct of clinical training, were associated with perceived psychological distress and overall QOL. Methods Baccalaureate nursing students (N=6088) from five Norwegian universities were invited to an inter…
Educational Games for eHealth : Using Games as a Tool to Teach Disease Precautions
2021
Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM506) This master thesis investigated how an educational game could affect the ability to remember infectious disease precautions, guidelines, and hygiene rules over time in students and young adults in Norway. It also compared the ability to remember and implement these precautions taught in an educational game to the digital course “Training in Protective Measures” at the University of Agder. A high-fidelity digital prototype of an educational game was created for the purpose of this thesis project, with learning materials based on the teachings in the course. Qualitative research methods have been used for the evaluation of the p…

The purpose of the two interrelated studies reported here was to explore the approaches that schools and teachers adopted to accommodate students with special educational needs (SEN) during school closings in Norway, as well as the consequences of the pandemic for children with SEN and their peers. Study 1 was a mixed-methods case study of a lower-secondary school in which students with SEN (n= 14) and students performing at or above grade-level (n= 66) completed a survey about their experiences. Survey results were then used as a starting point for follow-up interviews with four teachers and the school principal to explore how they dealt with pandemic restrictions and supported students wi…

Master's thesis in Health informatics (HSI500) Background: Increasing volume of day surgery and a paradigm shift in patient care, has led to increased involvement of patients in the course of treatment, which requires good information, and good communication between the patient and health professionals.
