Background— To investigate early events possibly related to the development of diabetic angiopathy, we examined whether 8-iso-prostaglandin F 2α (8-iso-PGF 2α ) formation, a marker of in vivo oxidant stress, is altered in different stages of type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and whether it correlates with the rate of thromboxane (TX) A 2 biosynthesis, a marker of in vivo platelet activation. We also investigated the relationship between inflammatory markers and F 2 -isoprostane formation in this setting. Ar CVD metodi sintezētu dimanta kristālu Ramana spektroskopija

Bakalaura darba ietvaros tika apgūti Ramana spektrometra darbības principi, kā arī tika apgūta prasme mērīt un apstrādāt ar Ramana spektrometru pētāma materiāla Ramana spektru, tādējādi analizējot attiecīgā materiāla īpašības un to iespējamu pielietojumu. CVD dimanta kristālu paraugiem, kas tika audzēti uz Si pamatnes disku virsmām, tika izmērīti un savstarpēji salīdzināti Ramana spektri gan paraugu virsmas mikroskopisko telpisko defektu tuvumā, gan attālumā no tiem. Pēc iegūto joslu novietojumiem Ramana spektros tika analizēta šo defektu izcelsme, kā arī ietekme uz parauga īpašībām. Obiettivi. Scopo del presente studio è esplorare il funzionamento psichico dei soggetti con disturbo bipolare I e II attraverso l’analisi e il confronto degli stili di pensiero e dei pattern difensivi. Metodi. Nel corso di un intero anno solare (2009-2010), presso la clinica Psichiatrica del Policlinico Universitario di Palermo sono stati reclutati 29 pazienti con disturbo bipolare I e II. È stato somministrato il seguente protocollo: Wechsler Adult Intelligent Scale-R (WAIS-R) per valutare il funzionamento cognitivo generale; Defense Mechanisms Inventory (DMI) per misurare i pattern difensivi. La reconstruccio de les migracions humanes es possible gracies a la informacio aportada per diverses disciplines. L’estudi de la diversitat genetica de les poblacions humanes actuals ens revela quins han estat els esdeveniments demografics i moviments migratoris passats que han deixat una empremta en el nostre genoma. El coneixement dels moviments migratoris en temps prehistorics ens permet comprovar hipotesis proposades des d’altres disciplines cientifiques. De la mateixa manera, la distribucio de la diversitat genetica en el futur dependra, en gran part, de les intenses migracions humanes actuals facilitades pels avencos tecnologics.
Środkowy z rodzeństwa jako potencjalny nauczyciel - w świetle teorii kolejności narodzin

W opracowaniu o charakterze teoretyczno-badawczym zaprezentowano najważniejsze postulaty odno- szące się do relacji między rodzeństwem oraz postaw rodzicielskich, oddziałujących na ujawnianie się specyficznych dla porządku narodzin – cech osobowościowych i preferencji zawodowych. Założono, że efekty kolejności narodzin osób zajmujących środkową pozycję w rodzeństwie korespondują z oczeki- waniami społecznymi formułowanymi względem pracowników zawodów pomocowych, w szczególności nauczycieli, wspierając zarazem proces ich potencjalnego dopasowania zawodowego do wymagań śro- dowiska pracy.
Tailoring oxide properties: An impact on adsorption characteristics of molecules and metals

Abstract Both density functional theory calculations and numerous experimental studies demonstrate a variety of unique features in metal supported oxide films and transition metal doped simple oxides, which are markedly different from their unmodified counterparts. This review highlights, from the computational perspective, recent literature on the properties of the above mentioned surfaces and how they adsorb and activate different species, support metal aggregates, and even catalyse reactions.
