Mialģiskais encefalomielīts jeb hroniskā noguruma sindroms ir augsti heterogēna slimība ar nezināmu etiopatoģenēzi. Aktuāla ir nepieciešamība pēc ME/CFS biomarķieru atklāšanas un pacientu stratifikācijas. Iespējams, ME/CFS iedalījums varētu būt ar infekciju saistīta saslimšana. Tādēļ šajā darbā tika pārbaudīta B19 infekcijas marķieru klātbūtne un aktivīna B, potenciālā biomarķiera, koncentrācija ME/CFS pacientiem. Pētījuma ietvaros noteica B19 specifisko IgG/IgM klases antivielu klātbūtni, aktivīna B koncentrāciju, lietojot ELISA testus, un B19 NS genoma sekvences nPCR pilnu asiņu un no šūnām brīvas asins plazmas DNS paraugos ME/CFS pacientiem un praktiski veseliem asins donoriem (PVAD). Abstract The determination of trace levels of pesticides like atrazine in water samples of small, restricted volumes is one of the future demands of environmental analysis. In a brief review existing chromatographic and immunochemical methods for atrazine are critically discussed. Then a simple rapid enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using the tip of an inoculation needle as a solid surface is presented. The sample volume could be reduced to 30 μl. The assay had a centre of the test IC50 of 0.12 μg l−1 and permitted the characterisation of atrazine at levels of 0.022–2.90 μg l−1. A first outlook for automatisation is given. Abstract For the diagnosis of anti-MAG polyneuropathy the commercial ELISA manufacturer currently recommends a cut-off of 1000 Bühlmann Titer Units (BTU). We analyzed sera from 80 anti-MAG neuropathy patients and 383 controls (with other neuropathies or healthy controls) to assess the ELISA sensitivity and specificity at different thresholds. Glycosaminoglycans are accumulated in both mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) and mucolipidoses (ML). MPS I, II, III and VII and ML II and ML III patients cannot properly degrade heparan sulphate (HS). In spite of the importance of HS storage in the metabolic pathway in these diseases, blood and urine HS levels have not been determined systematically using a simple and economical method. Using a new ELISA method using anti-HS antibodies, HS concentrations in blood and urine were determined in MPS and ML II and ML III patients.
