Multi-label classification targets the prediction of multiple interdependent and non-exclusive binary target variables. Transformation-based algorithms transform the data set such that regular single-label algorithms can be applied to the problem. A special type of transformation-based classifiers are label compression methods, which compress the labels and then mostly use single label classifiers to predict the compressed labels. Efficient on-axis SLM engineering of optical vector modes

Abstract This work presents a method for the efficient experimental generation of arbitrary polarized vector beam modes. The optical system employs two liquid-crystal on silicon (LCOS) spatial light modulators (SLM) in a common path architecture, avoiding the use of beam-splitters. Each SLM displays a different phase-only mask, each one encoding a different pattern onto two orthogonal linear polarization components of the input beam. These phase-only masks are designed using a recently proposed random technique to encode complex amplitude values. Long intergenic non-coding RNAs (LincRNAs) are long RNAs that do not encode proteins. Functional evidence is lacking for most of them. Their biogenesis is not well-known, but it is thought that many lincRNAs originate from genomic duplication of coding material, resulting in pseudogenes, gene copies that lose their original function and can accumulate mutations. While most pseudogenes eventually stop producing a transcript and become erased by mutations, many of these pseudogene-based lincRNAs keep similarity to the parental gene from which they originated, possibly for functional reasons. Positioning system for assembly and manufacturing tasks

The paper presents a two-axis positioning system using asynchronous motors as actuation devices. Theuse of asynchronous motors reduces the overall cost of the system, while providing actuating torques superior to the ones provided by stepping motors. The system is controlled by mean of a programmable logic controller (PLC) and two voltage-frequency inverters fitted with motion control cards. In contrasts to a stepping motor system, which works in open loop mode, the proposed system uses closed loop control on each axis. The motion loop is closed by means of an incremental encoder.

The Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory (UFFO) is a space observatory for optical follow-ups of gamma ray bursts (GRBs), aiming to explore the first 60 seconds of GRBs optical emission. UFFO is utilized to catch early optical emissions from GRBs within few sec after trigger using a Gimbal mirror which redirects the optical path rather than slewing entire spacecraft. We have developed a 15 cm two-axis Gimbal mirror stage for the UFFO-Pathfinder which is going to be on board the Lomonosov satellite which is to be launched in 2013.
