Enterprise System Implementation in a Franchise Context: An Action Case Study

Abstract This research paper reports on a study focusing on a franchise relationship that utilizes an enterprise system (ES) to optimize its supply chain. The ES is in its post-implementation phase; however, the franchisee has challenges with inventory management due to poor data quality, which causes problems with vendor analysis and revenue control. An action case study was carried out to identify and diagnose the source of the problem, and interventions were implemented and evaluated. The Public Procurement of IS - A Process View

This paper addresses a lack of research into public procurement of information systems, especially from a process focus. Three case studies from IS procurement in Norwegian municipalities are presented. By following one of the procurements in detail, the paper shows a process with a very strict phased division, an approach quite different from today's agile system development methods. The cases show the importance of the requirement specification which is completed before talking to vendors. The open reading frame of the first intron of the mitochondrial cox1 gene (cox1I1) was expressed in Escherichia coli. The putative intron-encoded protein stimulated the formation of intra-chromosomal lac +-recombinants about threefold. No stimulation was found when the reading frame was inserted in the opposite direction, or when it was interrupted by a deletion. The intronic open reading frame did not complement recA − or recB − mutants of E. coli. In S. pombe, elimination of this intron did not abolish homologous recombination in mitochondria. A possible role of the recombinase activity in yeast mitochondria will be discussed.

EPR, ENDOR and TRIPLE resonance of amino-substituted 9,10-anthraquinone radicals and the rotation of the amino groups in the solution phase

EPR, ENDOR and TRIPLE resonance spectra were recorded for 1-amino-9,10-anthraquinone (1-aminoAQ), 2-aminoAQ, 1,2-diaminoAQ, 1.4-diaminoAQ, 1,5-diaminoAQ and 2,6-diaminoAQ anion radicals in the solution phase. The rotation of the amino groups is discussed with reference to the experimental data. Rotation barrier calculations were carried out using B3PW91/3-21G* density functional method. The amino groups at positions 1, 4, 5, 8 were found not to be in rotational movement up to the EPR time-scale.

Nuclear DNA duplication in the absence of cell division (i.e. endoreplication) leads to somatic polyploidy in eukaryotic cells. In contrast to some invertebrate neurons, whose nuclei may contain up to 200,000-fold the normal haploid DNA amount (C), polyploid neurons in higher vertebrates show only 4C DNA content. To explore the mechanism that prevents extra rounds of DNA synthesis in these latter cells we focused on the chick retina, where a population of tetraploid retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) has been described. Tomato is subject to several diseases that affect both field- and greenhouse-grown crops. To select cost-effective potential biocontrol agents, we used laboratory throughput screening to identify bacterial strains with versatile characteristics suitable for multipurpose uses.
