Videospēļu anglismu gramatiskā adaptēšanās latviešu valodā

2021

Animal agency in Iron-Age Sicilian art (VIII-VI BCE): Interaccion between bovines and man

2019

El objetivo del presente artículo es el análisis de las relaciones entre bovinos y humanos bajo la perspectiva de la agencia animal a través de varios objetos artísticos encontrados en el asentamiento de Polizzello (Sicilia occidental), datados entre los ss. VIII-VI a. …

Ring splitting of azetidin-2-ones via radical anions

2012

The radical anions of azetidin-2-ones, generated by UV-irradiation in the presence of triethylamine, undergo ring-splitting via N-C4 or C3-C4 bond breaking, leading to open-chain amides. This reactivity diverges from that found for the neutral excited states, which is characterised by alpha-cleavage. The preference for beta-cleavage is supported by DFT theoretical calculations on the energy barriers associated with the involved transition states. Thus, injection of one electron into the azetidin-2-one moiety constitutes a complementary activation strategy which may be exploited to produce new chemistry.

Chiral Monofluorobenzyl Carbanions: Synthesis of Enantiopure β‐Fluorinated β‐Phenylethylamines

2011

The preparation of a stabilized monofluorobenzyl carbanion by means of a remote homochiral sulfinyl group and its completely stereoselective reactions with N-p-tolylsulfinylimines are described. The use of these reactions followed by the simultaneous removal of both chiral auxiliaries with tBuLi, which occurs without epimerization at the benzylic position, provides the quickest entry to enantiomerically pure β-fluorinated β-phenylethylamines.

Understanding the cooperative NHC/LA catalysis for stereoselective annulation reactions with homoenolates. A DFT study.

2011

The role of Ti(Oi-Pr)(4) Lewis acid (LA) in the cooperative N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)/LA catalyzed addition of enals to enones to yield cis-cyclopentenes has been investigated using DFT methods at the B3LYP/6-31G** computational level. Ti(IV) effectively catalyzes the reaction by formation of a complex with cinnamaldehyde 1, which favors the nucleophilic attack of NHC 5 on 1, and the subsequent proton abstraction to yield the extended Ti(IV)-Breslow intermediate 21. The nature of the metal involved in the LA catalyst plays a relevant role due to the more basic character of NHCs than aldehydes. Thus, strong LAs, such as Zn(OTf)(2), prevent the catalytic behavior of NHCs to form a very sta…

Piracy versus Netflix : Subscription Video on Demand Dissatisfaction as an Antecedent of Piracy

2018

Drawing from cognitive dissonance and neutralization theories, this study seeks to improve the understanding on consumer decision-making between the current legal and illegal video consumption alternatives. We develop and test a research model featuring Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) satisfaction and various dimensions of SVOD quality as antecedents of video piracy neutralizations and attitudes. Based on results from an online survey among Finnish SVOD users, SVOD satisfaction is primarily determined by content quality, and has a small negative effect on attitude toward piracy through decreased piracy neutralization. However, it appears that current legal services are not seen as true …

Lanthanides Revealing Anthropogenic Impact within a Stratigraphic Sequence

2014

Difficulties to differentiate between anthropogenic and natural processes in the formation of archaeological deposits are crucial for a correct interpretation not only of the actions involved in the development of archaeological sites, but also of their occupation-abandonment dynamics and the understanding of their spatial behaviors and relationship with the environment. We have carried out lanthanides (rare earth elements “REE”) analysis to distinguish anthropogenic from natural stratigraphic units in sediments using the advantage of the high sensibility, precision, and accuracy of ICP-MS measurements. In the Neolithic site of Mas d’Is (Alacant, Spain), we have applied REE analysis in a hu…

Profile of leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions induced in venules and arterioles by nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors in vivo.

2013

Background There is controversy regarding cardiovascular (CV) toxicity of the nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors used to treat human immunodeficiency virus infection. Methods We evaluated the effects of nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors on leukocyte-endothelium interactions, a hallmark of CV diseases, in rat mesenteric vessels using intravital microscopy and in human arterial cells using a flow chamber system. Results Abacavir and didanosine increased rolling, adhesion and emigration in rat vessels. These effects were reversed with antibodies against Macrophage-1 antigen (Mac-1) or intercellular adhesion molecule 1 and were reproduced in human cells. Lamivudine, zidovudin…

Eight-Membered Rings With Two Heteroatoms 1,3

2022

Eight-membered rings with two heteroatoms in a 1,3-relationship, namely 1,3-diazocine, 2H-1,3-oxazocine, 2H-1,3-thiazocine, 4H-1,3-dioxocin, 4H-1,3-oxathiocin, and 4H-1,3-dithiocin, are discussed in this chapter, that covers the literature from 2007 to October 2020 (SciFindern search) and reports the chemistry of uncondensed derivatives, heterocines fused to carbocycles and heterocycles, as well as bridged heterocines. Among eight-membered 1,3-diheterocines, 1,3-diazocines and 1,3-oxazocines are the two largest classes, based on the number of publications, mostly due to the studies of the synthesis of these cyclic systems, their pharmacological properties and/or their important industrial a…

Polycerasoidol, a Natural Prenylated Benzopyran with a Dual PPARα/PPARγ Agonist Activity and Anti-inflammatory Effect

2019

Dual peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α/γ (PPARα/γ) agonists regulate both lipid and glucose homeostasis under different metabolic conditions and can exert anti-inflammatory activity. We investigated the potential dual PPARα/γ agonism of prenylated benzopyrans polycerasoidol (1) and polycerasoidin (2) and their derivatives for novel drug development. Nine semisynthetic derivatives were prepared from the natural polycerasoidol (1) and polycerasoidin (2), which were evaluated for PPARα, -γ, -δ and retinoid X receptor-α activity in transactivation assays. Polycerasoidol (1) exhibited potent dual PPARα/γ agonism and low cytotoxicity. Structure–activity relationship studies revealed th…
