Ludus sphaerae per annulum ferreum: tradición alegórico-emblemática del beugelen
2016
ABSTRACT: Beugelen was a game, described early on by Erasmus, which gained wide popularity in the Netherlands, played both in palaces and villages, as evidenced by numerous engravings of the 16th and 17th Centuries. Therefore, it is not surprising to find its allegorical-symbolic exploitation, associated with concepts such as mental laziness (Heinrich Aldegrever), the fatal consequences of the game (Johannes David) and the effects of human and divine love (Peter Rollos, Typus mundi , Ludovicus van Leuven and Willem den Elger). In the light of previous emblematic repertories, I delve into the meaning of a number of paintings, paying special attencion to works of Lucas Gassel ( David and Bath…
European Action Programmes for Lifelong Learning
2009
Vocational education and training has been a part of the process of creating a European community since the 1950s. The European training programmes Erasmus and Comett were launched in the 1980s. After the Maastricht Treaty, agreed in 1992, such training programmes were expanded further at the same time as emphasizing their importance to the internationalization of education. With a view to promoting and intensifying educational co-operation, in 1995 the European Commission created two new educational programmes called Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci. Both are umbrella schemes that brought together previously separate action programmes in the field of education. Leonardo da Vinci has been a E…
Lipidomic profiling identifies signatures of metabolic risk
2020
Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS), the clustering of metabolic risk factors, is associated with cardiovascular disease risk. We sought to determine if dysregulation of the lipidome may contribute to metabolic risk factors. Methods: We measured 154 circulating lipid species in 658 participants from the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and tested for associations with obesity, dysglycemia, and dyslipidemia. Independent external validation was sought in three independent cohorts. Follow-up data from the FHS were used to test for lipid metabolites associated with longitudinal changes in metabolic risk factors. Results: Thirty-nine lipids were…

Quality management assessment within Erasmus+ Programme according to the perception of the participating students
2021
The aim of the paper was to analyze the perception of students regarding the quality of management within Erasmus+ programme carried out by Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and their partner academic institutions from Romania and abroad. Through this paper we also tried to determine a classification of the evaluated variables, their correlation and the factor which influences most the quality of the management of Erasmus mobility projects. In order to assess these goals, the research consisted of collecting, processing and analyzing the responses to questionnaires from 66 Romanian students and 165 foreign students who have benefited from an Erasmus+ study or placement mobility in the last y…
Educational Robotics for Reducing Early School Leaving from the Perspective of Sustainable Education
2019
Early School Leaving (ESL) is a problem for many countries and some have pledged to reduce the number of children leaving school early to below 10% by 2020. Between October 2015 and September 2017, Italy, Greece and Latvia implemented an Erasmus+ project that used robotics to reduce the risk of ESL. The effectiveness of the teaching and learning materials developed during the project and the pedagogical strategies used were examined in groups at high-risk of ESL and in the work of the teachers participating in the project. In this paper, the use of robotics to reduce the risks of early school leaving is analysed from the perspective of sustainable education. Mixed methods were used to evalu…
Higher Education Internationalization: The Erasmus-Mundus network added value
2014
International audience; Higher education internationalization can play a major role in developing universities and students' capacities and their opportunities broadly throughout the world. Irrespective of contextual differences within and between countries, nearly all higher education institutions worldwide are engaged in international activities and are seeking to expand them. Engaging with the world is now considered part of the definition of quality in education and research. However, with the current crisis, possible tensions and counter reactions to the development of the internationalization can occur, such as an imminent resistance to a supposed denationalizing effect of internation…

Teacher professional development in the context of the “Open Discovery of STEM laboratories” project: Is the MOOC methodology suitable for teaching p…
2020
Abstract The “Open Discovery of STEM Laboratories” (ODL) project, funded by the European Erasmus+ KA2 program, was aimed at introducing the use of MOOCs in school curricula. In particular, it fostered teacher collaboration in creating and using micro-MOOCs for the inclusion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) online remote or virtual laboratories in the everyday teaching practice. The project focused on teachers, educators and curriculum designers with the aim to strengthen their profile by supporting them to deliver high quality teaching practices and to adopt new methods and tools. Thanks to the project, in service and pre-service teachers had the opportunity to ext…
Academic and Administrative Tandems in European Projects
2017
International audience; Building and maintaining the sustainability of European projects requires advanced communication and team investment, shared working methods, common decisions and symbiosis in key items such as selection requirement and process, terms of mobility between consortium members or teaching content. It requires jointness in various perspectives, aspects and scales, with their own conditions and challenges. This abstract describes this prerequisite of jointness through the local campus of Le Creusot (University of Burgundy) for our International Programme in Computer Vision and Robotics (VIBOT). The main challenge can be summarized in one single question: How to maintain an…
