Objective assessment of cataract: Comparison between the Lens Opacities Classification System III and a Scheimpflug camera

Purpose Develop an automatic system for cataract classification using the Sirius Scheimpflug for both nuclear and cortical cataract. Methods Scheimpflug images were taken using the Sirius system in 50 patients with nuclear and/or cortical cataract (mean age 69 ± 9.2 years). The nuclear opacity (NO) and cortical opacity was graded by an ophthalmologist according to the Lens Opacities Classification System (LOCSIII) by comparing the slit-lamp image with the LOCS's standard nuclear images. Hairy polyps, also known as dermoid polyps (DPs), are rare benign cystic lesions of bigerminal origin that may occur in several head and neck regions, including the oropharynx. Despite their benign histopathological nature, DPs may be life threatening, due to their upper airway location, and DPs represent one of the most unusual causes of respiratory distress during the neonatal period. BACKGROUND Chylomicronemia syndrome is a metabolic condition characterized by severe fasting hypertrigliceridemia (≥1000 mg/dL) and other clinical features including chronic abdominal pain and recurrent acute pancreatitis. Telomeres are located at the end of the chromosomes. They protect chromosomes from fusion and degradation. Every cell division causes a shortening of the telomeres. A special enzymatic complex called telomerase is responsible for maintaining telomere length in intensively dividing cells, such as epithelial cells and bone marrow cells. The enzymatic complex includes the TERT subunit, which has reverse transcriptase activity, and the TERC subunit, which acts as a template. Induction of Type-Specific Neutralizing Antibodies by Capsomeres of Human Papillomavirus Type 33

Abstract The immunogenicity of capsomeres of human papillomavirus type 33 was evaluated in a dose–response analysis. Capsomeres were obtained free of capsids by expression of L1 carrying the single point mutation C427S. Neutralizing antibodies were detected using an in vitro pseudoinfection assay. Capsomeres induced type-specific, neutralizing antibodies in mice even in the absence of adjuvant. The neutralization titers of immune sera raised without adjuvant were 10- to 20-fold lower than those of antisera to virus-like particles, but virtually identical using Freund's adjuvant. The natural killer group 2D (NKG2D) receptors on natural killer (NK) cells and several T cell subsets play an important role for immunosurveillance of HNSCC and are thus targeted by tumor immune evasion strategies in particular by shedding of various NKG2D ligands (NKG2DLs). Este se justifica en la escasez de obra identificable y en el prejuicio que ha supuesto reducirlo a una vertiente meramente decorativa, sustentada en el hecho de que figure como cortinero en la solicitud de colegio de pintores de Valencia de 1520; una propuesta en la que tuvo especial protagonismo.
