This article analyses how specific nodal points of performative control developed and consequently structured the discourse on Aotearoa New Zealand’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It identifies these points by adopting a rhetorical-performative approach to uncover three particular performances of control that articulated the pandemic in Aotearoa New Zealand, from the diagnosis of the first COVID-19 case in the country in February 2020 through to October 2020. Mtl is a member of the Rho family of small GTPases in Drosophila. It was shown that Mtl is involved in planar cell polarity (PCP) establishment, together with other members of the same family like Cdc42, Rac1, Rac2 and RhoA. However, while Rac1, Rac2 and RhoA function downstream of Dsh in Fz/PCP signaling and upstream of a JNK cassette, Mtl and Cdc42 do not. To determine the functional context of Mtl during PCP establishment in the Drosophila eye, we performed a loss-of-function screen to search for dominant modifiers of a sev>Mtl rough eye phenotype. Detection of natural killer T cells in mice infected with Rickettsia conorii.

Little information is available regarding the role of natural killer T (NKT) cells during the early stage of Rickettsia conorii infection. Herein, C3H/HeN mice were infected with the Malish 7 strain of R. conorii. Splenocytes from these mice were analysed in the early stage of the infection by flow cytometry and compared with uninfected controls. Our results showed an increase in NKT cells in infected mice. Additionally, NKT interleukin (IL)-17(+) cells increased three days after infection, together with a concurrent decrease in the relative amount of NKT interferon (IFN)-γ(+) cells.
